Are you looking for a unique recipe of dish? We all know that Dhokla is made of Besan (gram flour), but we also know that Besan is not quite a healthy option. So what if you could switch to a healthier choice but with similar taste.
Many people are fond of dhokla, especially for a relaxing breakfast on Sunday. But it’s time that we talk healthy food! This Moong dal dhokla recipe will definitely become of the better choices for your brunch or breakfast and still be healthy! Let’s start with ingredients.
Ingredients of Moong dal Dhokla Recipe
For Batter:


Moong ko Dal (2200 grams)


Besan


Curd


Turmeric Powder


Salt


Eno/Baking Soda


For tempering:


Oil


Mustard Seeds


Curry Leaves


Water


Salt


Sugar


Lemon Juice


Green chilies


Instructions
Rinse moong dal in water and soak the same for at least 4 hours. Drina the water from the same and transfer in grinding jar and make a thick paste of the same by adding water. Now take the big bowl for batter and transfer the paste in the same along with besan, curd and salt. Mix it well, and put baking soda and turmeric powder.
Stir it well. Make sure that the batter is pouring consistency, just like the idli batter. Keep it aside for a while. Now take the dhokla maker and brush the base with vegetable oil. Add the batter on the base slowly and let it steam for at least 15 minutes.
Once the dhokla is steamed properly, keep it aside for 5 minutes before you cut the pieces. Otherwise, if you will dry to cut the pieces immediately, the dhokla might get mushy.
Let’s start with tempering at this time. Take a frying pan and heat the oil on the medium flame. Start by adding mustard seeds and curry leaves, and let it crackle.
Now slowly add water (be careful, as the oil is hot). Add sugar, salt, lemon juice and green chilies in the tempering. Let it boil for a minute. Now pour the tadka on top of dhokla. Cut it into pieces and serve hot for breakfast. Ginger tea and dhokla in the morning, is a perfect start of the day!
