Agadir Holidays Take You To Some Interesting Places
Located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Agadir is one of Morocco's major cities and a popular tourist destination in the country. It has spacious residential neighbourhoods and a charming promenade, which instantly delights its visitors. One of the most interesting aspects of the city is that it enjoys 300 sunny days every year. Upon arriving in this city for your holiday, you'll find it hard to believe that it was nearly devastated by a massive earthquake that occurred in 1960. In the years that followed, it was rebuilt entirely according to the mandatory seismic standards. During your time spent in this fascinating Moroccan city, you'll get the chance to explore its prominent places.
One of the popular attractions worth visiting during your Agadir holidays is the city's majestic beach. It is a vast stretch of golden sands, where you can unwind after your busy sightseeing schedules and take in the warm rays of the sun. This beach has also been attracting many yachters since the construction of the marina. An excellent range of facilities is available on this beach for visitors, such as sunshades for hire, restaurants, and cafes. You can also rent deckchairs while on your visit to this beach.
Another interesting place you can visit while you're in this Moroccan city is its city centre, where you'll find some exciting attractions. One of them is the Grand Mosque, which has been built in a modernist style of architecture and is unique among the other mosques in the city. You'll find the best ethnographic collection of Bert Flint at the Amazigh Museum. It introduces you to the intriguing artistry and culture of the Berbers. Another museum you can explore while visiting the city centre is the Agadir Memorial Museum. It was built as a memorial to the tragic earthquake of 1960 and has a valuable collection of Agadir's black and white photographs taken in the early 20th century.
Your visit to Crocopark would allow you to witness the endangered Nile Crocodiles that have found their haven in the form of this wildlife reserve. It is located 14 kilometres to the east of the city and has been carefully created to resemble the natural habitat of these wild species. These crocodiles were endemic in the country up to the early 20th century but faced the threat of extinction after frequent hunting. While in Crocopark, you can watch the crocodiles in action and learn more about them from the highly knowledgeable staff of the park.
If you're one of the jewellery collectors and willing to travel about 97 kilometres south of the city, Tiznit would be an ideal place to buy some Berber jewellery. These unique pieces can make for the right souvenirs to take home for your loved ones. Located at the end of the mountain range of Anti-Atlas, this town has been built with impressive fortifications dating back to the 19th century. For buying the traditional Berber jewellery, you'll have to get to the souks that sell these pieces along with other handicrafts.
