Exploring new and things and places can give you a certain kind of satisfaction that makes you happy as a travel lover. One such place is the Upper Mustang which was known as a lost Tibetan kingdom until people started to explore it by trekking. You will love the Mustang trek through the rugged terrain which has a desert-like appearance beneath the spectacular Himalayan range. You can also get a glimpse of the Tibetan culture as you pass through valleys and landscapes.

Reasons for the Upper Mustang Trek

You can see the amazing views of plains, rocky beds, and natural wilds.
You can get a glimpse of the Tibetan civilization.
You can get the spectacular view of the surreal natural beauty.
You can witness the rocky structures and salt mines of Nepal and Tibet.

Best Season to do the Trek

You may think that the winter season is perfect for trekking as you can view snow-capped mountains.
But, truly, the Mustang or Annapurna trek should not be done then as it is terribly cold. Even the most experienced trekkers do not have the ability to withstand the cold climate of the winter season. The best time for Trekking is during the autumn or spring season which is from the months of February and November when the weather is pleasant and you can enjoy it comfortably.

You can also plan out your trekking during the Tiji Festival which is known as the most celebrated event of that region. It is a three festival where monks perform a dance to commemorate the incarnation of Buddha. It generally takes place in the third week of May. If you are an enthusiast about Buddhist culture, tradition, and heritage and want to know about it, then you can stay in Upper Mustang before starting the trek.

For the Mustang trek, it is important for you to have the trekking permit of Upper Mustang. For entering a restricted area, it is necessary to have this permit. You just need to pay USD 500 for getting the permit. If you thinking of trekking in the Annapurna region, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project permit is necessary along with the Upper Mustang permit as well because it is one of the restricted areas.

You must find a Nepal based trekking agency which is reliable and has proven records of experience to get the permit for the Annapurna trek. It is important because there are a lot of procedures and arrangements that need to be done for you to get all the correct permits. In fact, by law, you are bound to take a guide or porter from Nepal for the trekking.
