The Unexplored Beaches In Mexico That You Have Never Heard Of
If you have ever visited Mexico, you must be knowing that Mexico has much more to offer than “sun & sand.” Mexico will mesmerize you with its dense forests, flaming volcanoes, barren deserts and 10,000km of coast strung with sandy beaches and wildlife-rich lagoons.
Exploring Mexico will invigorate your senses as the place is full of life and an undiscovered adventure. In Mexico, you will find culture, history, architecture, and some of the most mouth-watering food in the world. The rest of Mexico will gift you with mountains, canyons, and rivers that flow with the tears of baby unicorns. The coastline of Mexico runs at a stretch of about 5700 miles (9330 km) and there are many unexplored places than just the popular resort areas like Acapulco, Cancun, and the Riviera Maya.
The most popular beach destinations of Mexico are definitely jawdropping but the country's less-visited coastlines are the ones where you can find peace and solitude. Here are some of the most pristine beaches in Mexico that few tourists visit. These are the beaches where you can lean your back on the hammock and sip your drink, quietly listening to the sound of the waves.
Lagunas de Chacahua
Lagunas de Chacahua is a small village, situated between Puerto Escondido and Huatulco and sits on the channel that connects Chacahua Lagoon to the Pacific. The rugged beach is filled with backpackers and travelers who are in search of harmony. It is also a surfer's paradise where Australians flock annually to chase massive waves.
To explore the 5-mile beach of Cabo Pulmo, you need to take a bumpy ride of 60 miles. Beaches like Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are places where the rich can spend their money whereas Cabo Pulmo is a quaint hideaway surrounded by red rock desert and mountains and is a treat to the traveler’s eyes. The place has a population of maybe 100, served by two cantinas and four restaurants.
The island of Holbox(pronounced "hole-bosh") is located about 7 miles off the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula and is known to be a travelers paradise. The island is exactly twenty-six miles (42 km) long and about a mile wide and is quite remote. To reach the island, you have to cover only 100 miles from Cancun. You can find no high-rise hotels but only rustic palapas along the island's gorgeous beaches. It is a perfect place to get away from the stresses of modern living.
You can find the city of Mérida bustling with city people but if you are in search of some bona fide chill time, you should definitely set your foot in Celestún. Celestun is a slice of Caribbean paradise that has got all the perfect ingredients like sugary sand, crystal-clear water, etc. The place has an untouched beauty that will draw crowds who want a break from the monotonous city life. It has a laid back atmosphere and is visited by resident fishermen and locals catching a break.
You can invest in your own set of wheels and set off on a breathtaking journey to Cabo Corrientes, along Highway 200, which hugs the Bay of Banderas before bumping into the mountains and Selva El Tuito National Park. Cabo Corrientes is 45 miles of untouched shoreline hidden between uneven terrain. The clusters of secret beaches can be reached only by boat and the most beautiful Playa Mayto can still be covered by foot. The place is surrounded by palm trees and is quite empty. There is only one family-run hotel that has clean, standard rooms and a small restaurant, where you can get up to three meals a day. The place is perfect for budget-conscious travelers who want a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. You can also pitch a tent at the on-site campground, as well.
