These waves are generated from real-time wave measurement data transmitted from the Massachusetts seacoast to instantly restructure the exact ocean waves along a 65-foot section of the Atlantic coast. The wave pool is connected remotely to a sensor on the coastline and artificial waves are generated by a turbine under the sculpture while their movement is controlled by the data transmitted from the tide gauge in the town of Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

Gateway to NOAA

‘Gateway to NOAA’ is a newly permanent exhibit designed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that highlights the ways that NOAA protects and manages the ocean and coastal resources. It has five divisions namely, NOAA Heritage featuring historic artifacts from over 200 years, Earth Observations describing the information gathering methods on the planet’s environment by NOAA, Weather and Climate focusing on weather forecasts and climate process, Water section depicting safe navigation and commerce as well as other marine processes by NOAA, and the News section presenting an interactive display for visitors to explore the ocean.

Acorn Park

Acorn Park is a giant acorn-shaped gazebo surrounded by 12 acre park which is built marking the site of the original ‘silver’ spring. The gazebo and the surrounding park are all that remains of1000-plus acre country estate and summer home, “Silver Spring” of Silver Spring founder Francis Preston Blair, Sr. Constructed in the 1850s by Benjamin C. King, a builder from Washington DC at the legacy of Blair. It is the only known giant acorn-shaped gazebo in the world!
