What concerns most of the holidaymakers from the United Kingdom these days is the rising costs of holidays. There are many ways of reducing their costs of travel in recent times and one of them is visiting the destinations that would allow them to have greater savings. Most of these destinations are located closer to the UK. So if you’re a resident of this European country, you'll have greater ease in visiting them:

1. Paris, France

One of the best cities visited by those in the UK seeking low cost holidays, Paris has impressed its visitors for many years with boulevards lined with some architectural delights, museums, boutiques, and bistros. You'll also come across some creative bars and shops while exploring the French capital. Don't forget to visit the Eiffel Tower, one of the most famous monuments in the world. Another excellent attraction you must explore while getting around in Paris is the Notre Dame cathedral. As the city has become synonymous with fashion and style, you can shop for some globally renowned international brands during your time spent in this part of France.

1. Vienna, Austria

The largest city and the federal capital of Austria, Vienna is its cultural, political, and economic centre. It is famed across the world as the 'City of Music', owing to its musical legacy created by some legendary composers, such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, and Joseph Haydn. The powerful Habsburg monarchy encouraged the construction of several architectural wonders and one of them is the Hofburg palace complex, which has been their home for over six centuries. During your time in this city, you'll also get to visit its popular museums and witness grand musical performances at the opera venues.

3. Algarve, Portugal

A Portuguese region that's been increasingly sought by individuals residing in northern and central parts of Europe as a permanent place to settle, Algarve is also a popular destination among the British travellers for holidays. It has an abundance of beautiful natural features, such as golden beaches, huge cliffs, and sea caves. Over the past few years, this region in Portugal has become no less than a paradise for surfing enthusiasts. While holidaying in Algarve, you can also visit its scenic villages, historic towns, and vast expanses of citrus orchards.

4. Hurghada, Egypt

Founded in the early 20th century, Hurghada is a charming coastal city located in Egypt's Red Sea Governorate. Until the late 20th century, it was a tiny fishing village. It became one of the country's major tourist centres after the construction of resorts and hotels after the 1980s. Today, there are some excellent facilities available in the city for scuba divers, windsurfers, snorkelers, yachtsmen, and kite-surfers. Many tourists from the UK and other European countries head to this part of Egypt during the winters for enjoying their Christmas and New Year holidays.

5. Venice, Italy

Known by many nicknames, such as 'City of Canals' and the 'City of Masks', Venice is renowned for its architectural beauty and the world-famous 'Grand Canal'. This city located in north-eastern Italy on a group of 118 islands separated by canals and linked by more than 400 bridges. During your holiday in this city, you'll get to explore the waterways of this city on the traditional flat-bottomed boats called 'Gondolas' and witness the architectural marvels, such as Basilica di San Marco and Palazzo Ducale.
