Almost all accounts, 2018 is a pretty good year for Motorola and its parent company. Total revenue reached $51 billion (up 12.5% year-on-year), while Motorola itself returned to profitability in the second half of 2018. With the Moto Z4, Motorola hopes to continue to succeed with devices that offer higher-end features - including headphone jacks and Moto Mods, but at a more affordable price.

Bot doesn't call it a flagship product, because the retail price is the UK is priced at £395 and the specifications include Qualcomm's Snapdragon 675 processor and 4GB of memory. The Moto Z4 doesn't really compete with the phone. Instead, we are considering more mid-range games, which means weigh in with the £400 Pixel.

In other words, the Z4 still has many advanced features, including a color 6.4-inch full HD + OLED display, 128GB basic storage (and microSD card slot), a display fingerprint reader and a frosted glass back cover like the previous Moto Z. Mobile phone. In addition, it still supports the company's line of interchangeable modules.

The continued support of Moto Mods is not a complete surprise, as Motorola claims that Moto Z owners who buy their mod systems are more satisfied than those who don't. However, with Motorola's three-year commitment to its mod platform on its Z3 last year, no one knows what will happen in the future. In addition, although the 5G Moto Mod was officially launched earlier this spring (and does allow Z4 owners to use Verizon's optional 5G connection), the Moto Z4 is the first Z phone to be launched, without some new mods.

But enough about mods, because the surprise on the Z4 is the return of the headphone jack. This revival marks the first time that mobile phone manufacturers have brought back this split small port. This fact is even more pronounced when you remember that Moto first cut this feature when it launched the original Moto Z more than three years ago.

However, according to Doug Meho, executive director of Motorola North American product operations, the power to bring back the headphone jack is very simple: users complain. This is because although the customer survey and network promotion data of the previous Moto Z mobile phone said that it performed quite well, but again and again, Motorola received feedback from users, and no headphone jack is a major setback. So Moto listened, and now the Z4 has a 3.5mm jack again. You see, sometimes enough complaints do make a difference!
Elsewhere, the Moto Z4 is designed with the same water-repellent nano-coating to protect the phone from rapid splashing, but don't give up the Z4 in the pool because the phone doesn't have the official IP rating for waterproofing. Unlike almost all other high-end phones today, the Z4 does not have a wireless charging function (although there is a module).

Another strange choice is that Moto decided to have the Z4 equipped with a camera at the back, although the Moto G7's dual rear cams are cheaper. Moto says the reason is that it wants to avoid unnecessarily complicating the design of the phone, but instead focuses on providing the main camera by providing high-resolution sensors.

Although there is a 48-MP sensor behind it (there is also a 25-MP self-timer cam), Moto seems to have done the job.

Both the front and rear cameras use a technique called pixel grading that combines the four pixels on the camera sensor into one large pixel, which reduces overall resolution but increases light sensitivity, which is what you want Used in low light conditions. Moto didn't stop there, because following the footsteps. Even without an auxiliary camera before and after, the Z4 can still take portrait-style photos.

I would love to know how Moto's night mode compares to what we see on more expensive phones. But in the end, the appeal of many Z4s still lies in your emphasis on modularity. For Verizon customers, the ability to upgrade a phone after using mods almost feels like a sneaky way to help upgrade a device to upgrade to 5G in the next year or two.
