How This Year’s Mot Changes?
Every vehicle owner has to go through the process of MOT testing. If a vehicle that is more than three years old does not take the test or fails it then it is not legally allowed to be on the road. A vehicle needs to meet the minimum standard of safety, emissions, and roadworthiness.
The MOT test is used to confirm that there is nothing wrong with its vehicle without dismantling it. The MOT is not a substitute for regular maintenance. The test determines whether the vehicle is roadworthy or not and it will identify the repairs that a vehicle needs to do so that it becomes road worthy and manages to pass the test.
The people carrying out testing have to take MOT tester annual training so that they are aware of the new changes that are made to the MOT testing so that they can test the vehicle accordingly.
MOT testing has changed a lot over time. The changes are made so that the testing is up-to-date with the automotive changes. New categories have been introduced for testing the car.

The MOT testers will grade the problems as a major, minor and dangerous. The vehicles that have minor issues the vehicle will pass the test but it is important that issues are solved immediately. The MOT testers flag the minor faults and the certificate includes advisory notices.
Anything that is a direct risk to the safety of the road or the environment is taken into consideration and is considered dangerous. The vehicle will fail the test if any such issue is identified.
The issue that can affect the safety of the environment will result in failure of the test and comes under the category of a major issue.
The issues that do not affect the safety of the environment but need to be repaired as soon as possible are categorized as a minor issue.
Things that can have an effect on the safety or performance of the vehicle in the future are classified as advisory.
