This encourages people to use renewable energy. The installation of a rooftop PV system is expensive, but in the long run, when compared to electric generators, it is quite inexpensive. The government supports common people in using rooftop PV by specific schemes. To promote the generation of electricity using sun Indian Government has launched Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission in January 2020.
How much subsidy from Government of India is being offered for installing Solar Rooftop?
The average cost of a rooftop PV system without subsidy is around 70 thousand rupees. The 100 square feet of the total space is required for this purpose. After a 30% subsidy, the total amount of 49 thousand rupees is required for installing a rooftop PV system. The scheme also provides 60% subsidy profits on special category states like the North-East states and Hilly area states. The special category states for domestic installations are given an extra edge over other people. About 60% capital subsidy and loan at 5% interest on 80% of the benchmark cost has been provided to them while for commercial purposes the percent goes down to about 30% capital subsidy. These schemes have made solar energy-related products quite popular in those areas. Are there any Rooftop PV system Installation Specifications?
The foundation stone for the headquarters of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), an alliance of 121 countries was done by India and France in 2016. The ISA focuses on developing solar energy and reducing production costs. On June 30, 2016, the alliance turned into a partnership with the World Bank for accelerating the mobility of finance for solar energy. The aim goal of the foundation is to provide affordable solar energy to people worldwide by the year 2030.
In 2018, the government of India announced the setting up of a $350 million solar development funds as the government's strategy to reduce the cost at the national level. Therefore, for rural development, concerted efforts would be needed for raising consumer awareness about the benefits of PV technology and their installation. Loans need to be made available, which requires significant capacity building in rural areas. The Solar City Programme as initiated in 2008 can be organized every year. A 30 percent capital subsidy support from the government should cover every village all over the country.
How Rooftop Solar PV will spread its wings in the Future?
In recent years, the government has taken steps to approve loans projects related to solar energy. The Reserve Bank of India has identified solar rooftop as a priority sector for lending money to various vivid sectors to have quality improvement. In 2017, the solar rooftop financing was $1.4 billion, just 3.5 percent of the total required funding which must be increased. Solar systems provide multiple benefits—to households, to the grid and large-scale industries. Promoting must be a desirable policy goal. Solar PV systems can offer reduced power bills for households and factories that may increase the gain as tariffs are likely to keep going up. They provide environmentally friendly with a cheap back-up supply of power. Innovative government policies or attention will surely assist in upgradation in the particular field of power generation.
