Television Market In India Preparing For Smart Tvs

Things are getting very cozy in the smartphone industry, with big and small players turning out to be more or less level in terms of how they’re faring in the market. After establishing their name in the smartphone world, and disrupting it in many ways, smartphone makers are moving onto the Television Market In India.

Most of those makers happen to be Chinese too; the same ones that created quite a whirlwind when they entered the phone market. Smart market-entry pricing was what had helped them to deal with the competition in an industry that was, at that time, extremely cluttered. This was the approach that Xiaomi took for their smartphone offerings and from the looks of it, their approach when entering the TV market too.

And one can see this in the kind of offerings they have in the market today, where the prices on those same offerings are almost twice as cheap as that of the products being sold by well-known brands. Usually, the thought is that with lower prices, you won’t get the same quality, but that’s not the case here. Companies like Xiaomi have gained customer trust, especially on this factor concerning the price to quality ratio, when it came to their smartphones.

They now believe that this same trust and loyalty will pull them through the TV market as well. And what they have, seems to fit what most Indian consumers are looking for when they are purchasing the TV – affordability, quality and a decent range of specifications.

This looks like the ‘standard’ strategy that some of the biggest names in smartphones are taking; it worked for them back then and appears to be working for them right now. The reason behind mentioning Xiaomi, in particular, is because they already have their ‘Mi TV 4’ for the market here in India, and some more units ready from manufacturing. Very soon, there will be other brands as well.

OnePlus is another name that will soon bring out TVs. As of now, they have yet to reveal more information about it but have hinted on a TV. Similar to the way they have worked on their smartphones and marketed them afterward, OnePlus will be adding some serious specifications to the TV and sell it at a price that seems affordable. Rumour has it that they will be adding Google’s own android based TV platform as a software, but there is no news, sources that can confirm this.

Another name that will be starting their foray into TVs is Honor. The company had announced that they will venture into this market and have plans on bringing their products to India. But before that, they will try to boost customer equity first as they are not as strong as Xiaomi, OnePlus, even Samsung for that matter. They plan on launching more devices to achieve this and give their users a range of technologically superior and affordable products first.

Honor isn’t the only one with plans on launching TVs in the near future. Parent firm, Huawei is following tracks, even with their current ban in the US. They will, however, take a little more time when doing that, as they wish to strengthen their hold on the Indian market using their strongest product offering – their smartphones. Again, this is in keeping with that strategy mentioned earlier and will now have to rely on Honor doing most of the sales, as their entry in the US isn’t restricted.
