Your actions should speak when it comes to making someone feel special on an equally special day. There is a reason why a particular loving person is there in your life. There are different ways to profess your love for this individual. Other than showering him or her with gifts, a usual way of saying it with love is to bake for that person. Be it your Mom, dad, Boyfriend/Girlfriend, Best-friend or a close cousin, your baking skills will bring smiles.

If it’s on the occasion of Birthday, there can’t be a better bet than a cake fresh from your own oven. A "present" cake is perhaps the best gift you can give. If you haven’t yet enrolled into some exciting cake baking courses yet and are worried that your lack of expertise in the subject can ruin the entire bake, think again.

Believe it or not you can bake it and make it look presentable in about no time. Besides, you don’t require buying expensive ingredients for the purpose. The equipment needed for baking this special cake is not tough to find either. If you are specialist in baking or have acquired some knowledge on the subject, you are ready to go.

You will really enjoy baking this surprise. Present cakes can turn out to be the best when crafted with the Vanilla Madeira flavour.

Prepare an iced cake at first and if you are targeting the vanilla Madeira, make use of pink pastel butter-cream. After you have baked say about a 7’’ cake, split in three segments and fill it with butter cream in pastel pink. Now, crumb coat the cake with layer of white sugarpaste. Also, don’t leave the round board uncoated. Give it a fine finish with pink sugarpaste as well.

Now, you can start making the bows with soft modelling paste, preferably the white modelling paste to avoid cracking. Baby pink and lavender are best choice for the bow colour.

It isn’t too hard to create the bows. For example you will need:

Rolling pin
Modelling paste in pink and lavender
Paintbrush
Strip cutter
Spacers
Edible glue
Paintbrush

First roll out the modelling paste and then dust it with corn-flour, cut out strips uniformly. Halve these strips into smaller ones. With the help of a paintbrush add edible glue at the very end of every strip, and then fold these strips to drop shapes. Leave them to dry. Carefully place the cake on the board and leave space to add your message. After you have put them on the board use a scribe and a ruler to mark areas where you will want to place the ribbons. Place the scale in diagonal halves and draw lines. Paste the ribbons from on top to down. Mark out the middle. After you have completed the sides, approach the middle with bows. The ribbon strips will overlap each other and there will be nothing to worry as the centre will be covered with bows. Since you have used both pink and lavender for bows and the strips, make sure you put them alternatively to bring out the theme. Cut out the message with tappit cutters and sugarpaste of your choice. Wow! Your present cake is ready, now.
