What Is Obesity, Risk Factors And Treatment

Excess accumulation of the fat in the body is called obesity. It is the most common disorder of the modern age. Constant indulgence in fried, high-fat foods along with a sedentary lifestyle results in excessive fat getting blocked in various body channels. Apart from exercise, there is panchakarma treatment for weight loss which you can try to get rid of those extra inches.

TYPES OF OBESITY

Though there are multiple classifications of Obesity following are some commons groups

I. There are three forms of obesity depending on the area of fat deposition.

• Peripheral: Accumulation of excess fat in the hips, buttocks and thighs.
• Central: Excess fat accumulation in the abdominal area.
• Combination of both peripheral and central obesity.

II. There are two types of obesity depending on the association with other diseases.

• Type-1 obesity: Caused by excessive intake of calories and lack of physical activity.

• Type-2 obesity: Cushing syndrome, hypothyroidism, polycystic ovarian disease, and insulinoma, are some internal secretion diseases that cause Type-2 obesity. It accounts for less than 1% of obesity cases and is observed that there is abnormal weight gain with type-2 obesity even on the little intake of food.

III. This type depends depend on the size and number of fat cells, obesity can be divided into

• Adult-type: Only the size of fat cells has seen increased in this type of obesity, it may happen mostly in middle age.

• Child-type: the number of fat cells is increased. It becomes very difficult to reduce the number of fat cells which are already made.

WHAT ARE THE RISK FACTORS OF OBESITY

Below are some common conditions occurs when you are suffering from obesity:

• Heart disease and stroke
• High blood pressure
• Diabetes
• Some cancers
• Gallbladder disease and gallstones
• Osteoarthritis
• Gout
• Breathing problems, like sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for short episodes during sleep) and asthma

Although the above conditions are most likely to accrue in a person with obesity. It is not compulsory for everyone who is obese has these problems. The risk rises mostly come if there is a family history of one of those conditions.

Diagnosis and treatment of obesity

Your health care provider will typically review your health history in detail if you are detected obese. There are some Ayurvedic hospitals for weight loss in Nagpur which will perform a physical exam and recommend some tests.

These exams and tests generally include:

Taking your health history:

The doctor will review your weight history, exercise habits, weight-loss efforts, eating patterns, some other conditions you've had, medications, stress levels and other issues about your health. Your family history will also be reviewed to see if you may be predisposed to certain conditions.

A general physical exam:

Blood tests:
