On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen in a television show as he took part Bear Grylls’ popular survival show Man Vs Wild. In Discovery channel the program featured as “Man Vs Wild with Bear Grylls and Prime Minister Modi”.
The program was widely advertised in the media. They discussed a range of topics, ranging from Mr. Modi’s political and personal life to his love for nature.
PM Modi was seen walking through the wild and taking a ride on a cold river in a makeshift boat.
They both sustained the rain and the cold in the jungles of Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand. Bear Grylls, in his show earlier had several guests including former American President Barack Obama. During the adventure, they had great conversations. PM Modi said that fulfilling people’s dreams gave him happiness and his focus is on development. “My position never goes to my head,” he said, in reply to a question.
The 45-year-old Bear Grylls asked the PM about his dreams as the prime minister, childhood, whether he feared anything in life and if he felt nervous before a political rally.
“My problem is that I have never experienced such fears. I’m unable to explain it to people what nervousness is and how to deal with it because my in-built temperament is very positive. I see positivity in everything. And because of that reason, I am never disappointed,” PM Modi replied.
“If I have to tell anything to the young generation then I will say we should not think of our life in pieces. If we think of our life as a whole then there will be ups and downs. If you are going down don’t think about it because the way up starts from there,” he added.
As they two made a spear and crossed a freezing river in a makeshift boat, PM Modi said, “Every plant is a flower. We see God in every plant.” He also discussed the living for nature and not exploiting it for one’s own ends but leaving it for the next generations.
While talking about nature, PM Modi recalled his childhood and said that in spite of staying in poverty his family used to always connected with nature. “You should never be afraid of nature because when we think that we are in conflict with nature is when the problem starts,” he said.
PM Modi told Bear Grylls about the starting of his journey as tea-seller’s son and his solo trips of spiritual awakening into the Himalayas in his youth. The program ended with a gushing Grylls saying a prayer for India and for PM Modi, whom he called an “iconic global leader” and expressed it as a “great adventure”.
