Excellent screen, sturdy design, excellent keyboard and Thunderbolt 3 make the third generation ThinkPad X1 tablet a powerful combination
Lenovo's third-generation ThinkPad X1 tablet is designed to be an uncompromising Windows 10 detachable device, offering users the features that Microsoft Surface will not offer: USB-C and Thunderbolt 3.

The shape is very familiar. The actual computer is squeezed into a tablet with a thickness of 8.9 mm, a bracket at the back, and a magnetically connected keyboard for better typing.

The 13-inch screen is larger than the screen on the Surface Pro and Eve V, making it easier to use a single-person laptop. The screen itself is very sharp and colorful enough to be used outdoors. The movie looks great, has a good view, and the perimeter borders are very large, they can accommodate two front speakers, a fingerprint scanner and an infrared face recognition system that supports Windows Hello.

The X1 tablet is designed to be more durable than most. Like most competitors, the screen is covered with a gorilla glass, but the ThinkPad series has a much history of testing humidity, ...
... vibration and mechanical shock, which means it should cope with everyday bumps and shocks. Commute.

High-End Ultra-Portable Performance

The X-Series is Lenovo's top ThinkPad series, which means the X1 tablet has all the features you might want.

This includes choosing the latest 8th generation quad-core Intel i5 or i7 processor, 8 or 16GB RAM and plenty of storage.

The tested machine is equipped with an Intel Core i7-8550U processor, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage and 4G, and completely covers everything I put into it.

Overall performance is excellent, comparable to high-end ultra-portable machines, but don't expect to have hardcore games on it - I haven't tried using an external graphics card.

Seven Hour Battery

One thing that is sacrificed in most PC tablets is battery life. Lenovo quoted "more than the whole day" battery life is nine and a half hours, but the actual situation is that the charging time of the ThinkPad X1 tablet is only about 7 hours. This is the "better battery life" power settings activation, word processing in Typoa, Chrome browsing, using Nextgen Reader, some image editing in Affinity Photo and lots of email in Microsoft Mail.

Thunderbolt 3 Port

The X1 tablet has only two Thunderbolt 3 ports and can double as a USB-C port. Having Thunderbolt 3 is a huge gospel because the expansion capabilities are endless, including a holy grail of charging cords, connecting 4K monitors and all other peripherals you can think of. This is a significant advantage over competitors lacking USB-C.

Unlike Microsoft's Surface Pro, the X1 tablet comes with a keyboard and the keyboard. Windows 10 is detachable, such as on-site or rigid keyboard quality, because most of the time they are used like laptops.

Lenovo's keyboard is the best keyboard I use on any detachable and is better than most laptops. The keys are full size, sturdy, feel good on the fingers, and have enough travel to provide a comfortable, satisfying typing experience.

Hello Windows

The X1 tablet has an infrared-based facial recognition system that is as good as Microsoft's Surface lineup. It recognizes you by locking the screen and automatically logs in, making the login seamless.

To open the X1 tablet and open the keyboard, you must press the power button or press the Fn key on your keyboard.

You Can Choose Windows 10 Home Or Pro

The third-generation Lenovo ThinkPad X1 tablet starts at £1,480 and comes with a Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a keyboard. All options are priced at £2,422.
The tested machine is priced at £1,973.59 and comes with a Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage and 4G.
In contrast, Microsoft's Surface Pro 6 starts at £879 and is the same model as the X1 tablet.

The ThinkPad X1 tablet proves that Lenovo can build a detachable 2-in-1 Windows 10 tablet. It's not cheap, but offers similar or better specifications than its main competitor, Microsoft Surface Pro, including the much-needed modern port option Thunderbolt 3.

The X1 tablet feels it can be beaten and will survive in the harsh environment of mobile work, which is its design goal. The screen is great, the 13-inch is an ideal size, the stand and keyboard are great, and the performance is superb.
