Hong Kong’s Best Hotels For Digital Nomads
Working while travelling is an attractive opportunity for both young and mature professionals in today’s world. With a paradigm shift taking place in how businesses offer services, the digital workforce is growing each year. Why not take advantage and see the world while working without being tied down to an office?
Places like Chiang Mai in Thailand and Bali in Indonesia are well-known hubs for the travelling techie. Asia in general has seen an influx of “remoters” in the past decade.
Hong Kong and China are no exceptions. While visa requirements make China a little trickier to stay in for lengths at a time, Hong Kong allows most visitors up to 90 days entry visa-free. Being a center of global commerce and a major trading hub in the region make ‘Asia’s global city’ attracts a wide range of people in the global work force. With seemingly endless amounts of activities for tourists, Hong Kong is an ideal stop to post up for a week or month for remote workers and digital nomads.
Finding a good café or work space is one of the first orders of business when remote working in a new environment. Hong Kong is one of the densest places in the world and that task could seem a little intimidating to someone who has not experienced the city before. ¬
Fortunately, there are a lot of good working spaces in the city, some of which remoters would not have to leave their accommodation to reach. Many modern hotels in Hong Kong have begun catering to digital nomads with designated spaces for them to operate as if they were in an office.
One of those hotels is Eaton HK. Located in Jordan on the Kowloon side, Eaton HK offers access to co-working spaces for a fee. Drinks, snacks, meeting rooms, film screenings, and workshops are all included. The hotel focuses on promoting socially conscience businesses.
Also located in Kowloon, Residence G Hong Kong is a new player on the street. This Hong Kong lifestyle hotel features its ‘Working Station’ where guests can plug in, work, and surf at any time of the day or night. The hotel near the MTR also has an open air terrace and its own bar & restaurant, Scarlett. What’s more, Residence G Hong Kong is currently offering 15% off on all rooms through its GLAM promotion.
A well-known hub for those working away from home is Mojo Nomad. Established in 2002, Mojo Nomad has two locations and was “born from a desire to create affordable accommodation that combines value-driven hospitality.” The micro chain is a proponent of community living and attracts those looking for a like-minded experience. With no shortage of working space in both their Aberdeen and Central locations, Mojo Nomad is designed to inspire and encourage nomad living.
Hostels are also a good option if finding a café or shared work office is preferential. Check-Inn Hostel in Wan Chai and Bay Bridge Lifestyle Retreat in Tsuen Wan are safe bets to get a decent night’s rest at affordable prices.
Hong Kong is an exciting place at any time of the year. Its multiculturalism, frenetic energy, and transient community make it a truly unique city to experience. Easily reached by other major centers in Asia, Hong Kong is an ideal starting point or stop along the way of a global working adventure.
