3 Different Types Of Tile Wedges That Are Used To Set Tiles On The Floor
We all want to have a levelled floor for our favourite tiles to be at the proper place. In the modern day, tile levelling system has gained a great value in the field of construction. You won’t be seeing any house furnished without tiles. Tiles add a class to your property and the most popular floor construction of the recent time. Although, the tiles if not fitted properly it will be the cause of floor distortion. Adding tiles to your house can keep the floor last long and it can act as a cooling agent by absorbing the external heat from the ground. When time passes, the grouting of the tiles get loose and they start lipping. If the floor is not plain enough to place the tiles over the mixture, then the tile may come up too. The process of tile levelling depends on many tools and materials. Tile wedges are considered to be one of the most important materials in levelling. The process of tile levelling is done step by step with certain tools and they are as follows-
Spacing plates- these are the kinds of goods that is meant for lying under the tiles at the adjacent point where the four tiles meet. There are two types of spacing plates- i) floor spacing plates and ii) universal spacing plates. They are used to create a uniform levelling corner for the tile before grouting. They are available in different shapes and sizes vary according to the thickness of the tile.
Tile wedges- The tile wedge is the tool which helps in keeping a tight hold over the tiles by the help of its teeth. A wedge has two sides. Upper and lower. The teeth’s on the upper-side helps in holding the tile together tightly. Before any kind of measurement is done, over the tile glue, the tiles are fixed. Tile wedges are made of hard plastics which are checked by the authority. Wedges can be reused in levelling tiles until the teeth’s are sharp enough to hold the tile tightly.
Spindles- A kind of screw used for tightening the spacer plates at the bottom. Spindles work with the spacers and you’ll have to screw it to hold tight the tiles. It can be used by a cordless drill. The screws provide 6mm-18mm of drill bit sockets. After the job is done, the spindles can be kicked or they can pull out the pin from the spacer. Tile wedges are fixed with these spacers at the top like a chip to hold them tight to the floors. They create gentle pressure due to which the tiles get fixed to the ground.
If you are looking for wedges to buy there are many online hardware shopping portals where you can get them at different prices. Make sure you check the quality of the tile wedges before you buy them. There are many leading concrete materials store where you can get wedges too. In tile levelling system, tile wedges play a very important role in creating pressure with the help of the spacers. Thus, keep your wedges safe and don’t miss them.
