Significance of Umrah

Both Umrah and Ramadan hold significant importance in the lives of believers in Islam. Umrah, which is an optional but a beautiful supererogatory prayer in which the pilgrim visits the House of Allah i.e Holy Kaabah and perform some religious rituals there. Unlike to Umrah, Hajj is an obligatory pillar of Islam for those Muslims, who are financially stable to bear the travel expense to a far off foreign country, which is offered at some specific time of the year. While Umrah can be performed throughout the year. However, performing Umrah after Ramadan is not allowed.

Significance of Ramadan

Similar to both Hajj and Umrah, Ramadan has also prominent importance in Islam as it is marked as a month of blessings and multiplication. Those believers who are not able to pay a visit to the House of Allah in those days specified for Hajj, Ramadan is the most preferred time of the year to perform this obligation. Despite being the most hectic time of the year for Umrah, many fortunate Muslims are able to perform this beautiful holy journey. However, there exist strict regulations for staying in Makkah after Ramadan. It is advised to leave Makkah on Eid ul Fitr. Although an Umrah visa is valid for 15 days only, people try to stay after Ramadan as well and celebrate Eid ul Fitr there. However, due to the presence of an unusually large number of holy pilgrims the leverage of a day or two after Eid ul Fitr is given.

Reasons to look forward to performing Umrah after Ramadan

The reason the holy travelers are looking forward to getting an Umrah visa after Ramadan is that it is not only that the prices of hotels drop drastically after Ramadan but also that it is the most peaceful time of the year to perform Umrah. However, it is possible only for those Muslims who are national residents under Gulf Cooperation Council or mainly called GCC nationals, which involves the Middle East countries comprising Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. Besides the nationals of these countries, no other nation of any country is permitted for Umrah visa after Ramadan.

Time specified for Hajj starts after Ramadan- making Umrah not possible for those in far off places except GCC Nationals

People who are in search of availing a cheap Umrah package after Ramadan can do so after the major pilgrimage called Hajj. Thus, Umrah can be performed for any time of the year in 9 months besides 3 months specified for Hajj. So it is not possible to get an Umrah visa right after Ramadan except for those GCC nationals.
