Traditionally, the holy Kaaba has witnessed attacks many times from different groups. Numerous crowds tried to conquer Makkah but every time God protected it in different ways. The most historical attack on the Holy Kaabah was tried by Abrah. The evidence of the attack is found in the Holy Quran at great length in Surah Al-Fil.

The people of elephant tried to attack Makkah and destroy Kaaba but God demolished them through Ababeel. Indeed He is the sole protector of this sacred place.
The year is referred to as Aam Al-Feel or the Year of Elephant by the people of Arab. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born fifty days after this incident. If you want to feel the marks of Aam Al-feel then cheap December umrah packages 2020 will give you a chance to recall the event.

Abrah was a Christian King of Yemen and Ethiopia who tried to attack Kaabah. The reason behind attacking Kaabah was that he wanted the Arabs to perform the pilgrimage in the church of San’a Yemen instead of Makkah, with the intention of diverting trade to Yemen. Abrah built the church but the people of Arabs refused to come for pilgrimage in Sanji. Thus the rejection of Arab people made him angry and he took an oath to invade Makkah and demolish the Kaaba, leading his army the Sacred Land.

Abrah’s army contained many elephants led by the personal elephant of Abrah known as Mahmood, who was the most oversize of them. The army of Abrah attacked Makkah and clutched all its animals including the camel of Abdul Muttalib (RA), the grandfather of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Since Abdul Muttalib (RA) was the leader of the people of Makkah, so he was responsible as the custodian of Kaaba.

Abdul Muttalib (RA) approached Abraham and asked him to return his camel. The demand for camel surprised Abrah and said, “I have come here to demolish the Kaabah which is very sacred to you and you are going to discuss your camel instead of Kaabah. At that Abdul, Mutlib replied, “I am the owner of my camel, so I am asking for them. He further said, “The owner of the Holy Kaabah will defend it and I have nothing to worry about the sacred place.” Thus, Abrah returned his camels after which he asked Quraysh to leave the Makkah and take shelter in the mountains and its valleys. Therefore, before leaving the Makkah Abdul Mutlib held to the gate of Kaaba and made Du’a save Kaabah. After that, he also climbed the mountain with his people.

The next morning Abraham was ready to attack Kaaba but he faced a strange thing which was unbelievable for him. All the elephants were unable to stand even the biggest elephant ‘Mahmood’ did not agree to move towards Kaaba. Instead of moving towards Kaabah the elephant would walk towards the opposite direction. When the soldiers tried to move towards the direction of Kaaba, he would sit even did not take a single step.

After that, God sent a flock of birds known as “Ababeel” from the ocean who came carrying gravels with them, two in their claws and one in the beak. First, they circled around the Kaabah and then started to throw the stones on Abrah’s army. The small stones were apparently the torment of God as each stone was engraved with the name of its target. Thus, the stones pierced the soldiers of Abrah and the entire army of Abrah was destroyed within a small fraction of time and the Holy Kaaba was protected.
