Gloucestershire is located in south-west England. It is surrounded by Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of the River Severn, and the entire Forest of Dean. Gloucestershire is regarded as a historic place and it is mentioned in Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 10th century, though the areas of Winchcombe and the Forest of Dean were not added until the late 11th century.



If anyone goes for a tour in Gloucestershire, must go for the best walking routes adjacent to the town. Walks in Gloucestershire is considered as world-famous tracks. People from all over the world go to this place to visit the famous spots and get the real essence of a trail walking. The trails and spots are so vibrant that it can’t be rated as top ten spots. People travel for a new place and in the search for a new culture and meeting people. In Gloucestershire, the walks are not like the ones in the Himalayas or that of the Alps or Andes. The trails are located through forests and beside streams moving towards a hillock or sometimes leading the traveller to a café in the woods.



A tourist can take a walk and reach the Berkeley castle which is centuries old. The stone walls seem to retain the vibrations of the past, which had connections with William Shakespeare, Queen Elizabeth, Sir Francis Drake, and many more. Take a round inside the castle and get the royal feel for the day.



One of the most healing paths through the forest is Cotswold way walk, an ancient English countryside. It can act as a refreshing walk for a tired tourist and will make him feel steady for the rest of the journey. The roadside is stacked with stone wall houses and pillars with green surrounding them. To describe the walks in Gloucestershire, it would be incomplete without Cotswold way walk.



Westonbirt Arboretum is a place where can lay still on the famous temperate grass and under the long trees all through the compound. It is a kind of nature-park where people gather for a walk and to view the arboretum from a bird’s eye view.



The trail which is near about a short hike is to reach Cam peak. If anyone is interested to hike a short trail, then go from Dursley and follow the Cotswold way walk across the down. After reaching the site located at a height of 700ft the spectacular views of the river Severn, Forest of Dean, May Hill and the Welsh mountains will be the best landscape one has ever seen. The freshness in the air and the pure silence with the view of rivers and mountains can give a hiker a day or two complete rest and deep into sleep. If anyone goes during the spring, the bluebells of two colours will keep the feet covered and the vibrancy of their colours can make a person smile.



To have a grand dinner or to enjoy a drink inside an old pub, one can go visit the Dursley town market. Shopping centres and other items can be purchased from the town market. The famous restaurants which are well known like- The Dilraj Indian, Old Spot Inn, Della Casa and many more.
A walk in Gloucestershire can be a great treat for a traveller who seeks to find and loves to get blend with the culture of the place.
