There are many ways to explore Dubai, the glamorous city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the capital of the Emirate of Dubai. Besides all the towering high-rises, theme parks, and malls of the city, you can also visit some of the cultural attractions and get some interesting insights into the local traditions and heritage. In the times when Dubai had not been transformed into an ultra-modern metropolis, the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood was the city's epicentre. The best way to explore this old town is by booking one of those heritage walks that allow you to take a stroll through the alleys of this area.

You can utilise the savings made while booking your cheap holidays to Dubai for enjoying some fabulous offerings of the city during this walking tour. It usually starts from the Al Fahidi Street located in Bur Dubai and ends at the Deira Creek. Upon hiring a taxi in the morning, you can get to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and begin your stroll. Early afternoons can also be one of the good times to enjoy this walk. However, before you begin to explore the historical attractions of this neighbourhood, you can visit a cafe and savour a cup of strong tea, flavoured with aromatic spices.

As you begin your stroll, you'll get to discover certain spaces and structures that tell a story of how life had been during the period from the mid-19th century until the late-20th century. Upon exploring further, you'll discover museums, cafes, and traditional homes that have been constructed using limestone, gypsum, and coral. You'll also notice buildings with wind towers that were used for providing these homes with natural air-conditioning by trapping the wind and directing it inside the houses. After exploring this historic neighbourhood, you can head towards the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, abbreviated as SMCCU.

For most of the visitors wanting to understand the local culture and traditions, the SMCCU is always a perfect choice. The very purpose of this organisation is to offer tourists a greater understanding of the local traditions and culture. You can have a wealth of information at this centre. It also hosts many exciting activities, such as a traditional Emirati breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can then explore this amazing venue, which is housed in a brilliantly restored traditional home with a wind tower. As you turn towards the sandy lane to the left, there are a few spots where you can take some fantastic snaps.

Moving further, you can get to the Textile Souk to find some colourful fabrics and souvenirs. After you're done with your shopping turn right and walk a short distance to reach a recently-opened museum called Saruq Al Hadid. Upon walking to the Bur Dubai Abra Station, you can take a ride on a traditional wooden boat called 'abra' across the Dubai Creek to Deira. Upon reaching Deira, you can visit the Gold Souk, Perfume Souk, and Spice Souk. After a long day of exploration, you'll be treated to a traditional Emirati meal at the restaurant in one of the oldest hotels of Dubai.
