We are tired of summer, aren't we? The scorching heat has got the better of us. We are all waiting for the pouring showers of monsoon to save us. It makes the landscapes serene and picturesque. All of this is a welcoming change from the miserable summer. Now, this change that we crave may not be so kind towards our little furry friends. They can suffer different problems in the monsoon ranging from fungal infections to thunder anxiety. This is why It is very necessary for you to take care of them. Here are a few simple tips you can follow as a responsible ‘pawrent’.

Add fibre to the diet

The monsoon weather slows down the digestive system of dogs. Due to the downpour, you may not take your dog out for walks. This further amplifies the problem. As a result, your dog's bowel movements may be affected. To aid the digestion and bowel movements, add fibrous fruits and vegetables to his diet.

Protect your dog from fungal infection

Dogs are highly susceptible to fungal infection during this season. Your dog may get an infection in his paws and abdomen. As your pet goes out for a stroll, his paws are bound to get dirty. Hidden in this dirt can be bacteria and germs that can cause fungal infections.

Thunder anxiety issues

You should give your dog a designated place in the house. In monsoon, the thunder and lighting can scare dogs. So when thunder and lightning strike, they can go to this place.

Boiled water

Monsoon can be the reason for indigestion and tummy troubles for your dog. Give your dog hot water to avoid these problems.

Rain gear

It may be raining outside, but do you still want to take your dog out for a walk? In this case, you could use a raincoat for your dog.

Vaccinate and de-worm your pet

It is always advisable to get your pet vaccinated before the monsoon. With monsoon comes the risk of various infections and worm-related diseases. You should take your dog to your vet. Your dog’s vet will vaccinate your dog according to its immunization schedule and give him de-worming tablets. Make sure the vet uses medicines and equipment from the best veterinary medicine manufacturers in India.
.
Exercise

Monsoon should not be the reason for not exercising. If it’s raining outside, play fetch inside the house. Make sure your dog is up to some activity. These days obesity of pet animals is a serious issue and you must protect your dog from it.

Happy monsoon to you and your little friend!
