Animators are great storytellers. Every animation must have an idea behind it, and every animator tells a story. Technique is what speaks the most, But it is also important to think about the story as well. Who is your character, what do they really want, what’s the scene about, what’s their likes and dislikes? These are important because these shots forms part of an interesting story, it will be much more interesting to watch.

Why do we tell stories?

It’s in our blood, simple. Starting from the cave art, we developed the ability to communicate in a differentiated way than any other animal. Over ages and ages, it took an amazingly long time to develop, but it gave humankind its most incredible superpower.

Begin with an idea

Idea is where the spark begins with. Animators must always think carefully about what their character is thinking about. Without answering these questions, the scene will feel empty of meaning and lack interest.

The animated characters’ feel and thoughts

When an animator is working on an animated story, without a script, just relying on own imagination, they have to find meaning in their work by themselves. This means figuring out the story to the scenes are animating. An animator must always ask the following questions:

Who is the character talking to?
What is the context of the scene – what specifically is going on?
What do the characters want? What do they fear?
What are they feeling? What is their primary emotion?

Give a story

Jot down the story of the shot in a line or two. Give your character a name and write down what they are doing and why. Beyond the basic mechanisms of animation, story is what speaks about the content that you wish to transfer to your audience.

Shots tell stories

Construct the shot in a relevant way. Make the shots more personal and convenient in viewing. Every single shot counts to the whole story.

Necessities for an animation:

Start with art direction : Brainstorm interactive art concepts which represent and communicate the message.

Create black and white storyboards: Sketch out the scene, directions and dialogues for each portion of the story. One storyboard frame is dedicated to every scene.

Enhance with Full colour : Once the story is done, directions and accompanying music are set, full colour is added to the storyboards, literally drawing the scene to life.

Video is the most pervasive content-type online and marketers have no choice but to embrace video storytelling. With the internet is expected to grow by 60% by 2020, we need to understand how to stand out of the crowd.
