Though at this very moment you may be sitting in front of a computer screen or scrolling on your phone, what happens when you imagine yourself in the miniature garden? Close your eyes, and let your mind wander to that world of bright green fairy garden plants, springtime blooms, colorful miniature houses, and delightful fairy garden accessories. Do you feel the cool breeze on your face? Maybe you feel warm sun shining down on your head.

There is no feeling quite like the confident plunge of hands into the soil, or the delicate moving of miniature plants from their containers to the ground. Fairy gardening offers a wealth of joys, personal growth, and positive memories for all those who choose to partake in this hobby. Some might call it a lifestyle, or even a spiritual practice. The ritual of watering can help set the mind at ease. The social aspect can be particularly life giving, too, especially when friends and family are enjoying time together around the newly completed miniature garden. There is simply nothing quite like the fairy garden.

When you ask other miniature gardeners about what makes their hobby so special, the stories and anecdotes they share are wide-ranging, but most come back to the memories one can uncover in the miniature garden:

“I get to use my imagination and remember some of the dreams when I was a little girl and put them in front of me.” – Sandy

“I love fairy gardening. I have always loved baby dolls and miniature items. As I got a little older, I got into gardening, which I enjoy. Therefore, after I retired, it is only reasonable that I put them all together…hence, fairy gardening. I have many; many outside fairy gardens…most have themes. I try to add several new ones each year.” – Donna

“For me, miniature gardening is an escape back to my childhood when I could dream of wondrous places, and wishes might come true.” – Irene

For so many gardeners who build miniature gardens and fairy gardens, this type of gardening transports them straight back to childhood. Of course, the world of dollhouses, baby dolls, pretty accessories, and other childhood delights naturally gives way to adulthood and all the obligations therein, but that does not mean that adults must shun all things fairy! Fairy gardens build a useful bridge between the “self” of childhood and that of adulthood. Using imagination, miniature gardening skills, a few fairy garden plants, and some carefully chosen fairy garden accessories, anyone can create the fairy garden of their dreams.

Personally, I find the regular act of miniature gardening and growing plants to be a contemplative practice, and one that lets me “zone out” from the rigors of everyday life, instead making space for me to “zone in” on myself, my slice of the world, and the miraculous growth that occurs when plants are watched over with care. Each time I come back to that container or that plot of land, moving each fairy house just a little that way, or adjusting my fairy garden accessories just a bit this way, my miniature trees and other miniature plants have grown, however imperceptibly. Observing the growth and changes in my gardens throughout the year, week by week, allow me to see with more clarity how I, too, have changed, and continue to evolve. Whether I am looking back into childhood memories or thinking about how much I’ve grown over just the past few months, the miniature garden gifts my new lenses and perspective with which to view my life. Sometimes, with only a few miniature plants and a little fairy dust, the whole world suddenly comes into focus. For that, I will be forever grateful.

Miniature Gardening offers a variety of accessories, fairies, miniature houses, garden tools and furniture to create enchanting miniature landscapes. Miniature trees from 'Miniature Gardening' are an exclusive collection of plants for mini gardens or fairy gardens. If you are looking for mini garden accessories visit www.miniature-gardening.com.
