Public advocacy is the act by an individual or a group of people to influence or support any cause or the policy that is introduced by the administration. This kind of advocacy can be constituted in public and private areas as well. In this country, we have encountered multiple such cases of brands which promotes some issues for promotion of its product line. For instance, recently one tea brand was promoting voting rights and anti-corruption crusaders to promote its brand. In this case, they took a stand against the issue while promoting their brand. Such public advocacy creates a positive impact in the mind of customers, and they are most likely to use the product in the future.

Numerous non-profit organizations in this region are interested in uplifting the customer experiences, be it the medical or other such services. They use different tools to promote their cause. These public advocates can encourage change in legislation or filing litigation with the judiciary. They play a very active role in mobilizing the crowd and channel the agitation to a frequent target. It is talking about and even representing the common interest of the public.

Public advocacy may include defending the rights of underprivileged and all those who have experienced injustice in some way or the other. It focuses on advocating for the masses and relies on vital topics like laborer’s, migrant workers, women & children, environmental degradation, animal rights, etc.

The Requirement:

1. To increases the brand value

The value of a company and its brand depends on the perception of its stakeholders and most importantly the customers. Their trust is most famous for the brand to flourish and create a new pool of customers without spending a penny on publicity. Through public advocacy, they pick an issue to create a sense of awareness among its existing and potential customers while creating a sense of goodwill in the market. This campaign brings a string of loyal customers and long-term trust in the brand.

2. To increase the pool of consumers

When the company picks up an issue and start campaigning about it, people who feel that injustice join the movement. These are the people who belong to all walk of life, for them, it is that issue which needs complete attention of the authorities, but for the company, those people are also the potential customers who can be the consumers of their product in future. A reputation management company makes sure that they pick such burning issues to draw maximum attention.
