The Peugeot 308 GTi price is a fantastic value proposition for the petrolhead that wants more bang for the buck. This car is fitted with some excellent tyres as standard, but like any tyre they will wear, and they do need to be inflated to the correct pressures. Let’s take a closer look at the importance of tyre pressures and how often you need to check them.

How Often Do You Check Your Tyre Pressures?

The best way to stay safe on the road and to prolong the life of your tyres is to regularly check your tyre pressures. This includes the spare tyre so that you’re ready for an emergency if you need to change a tyre. It’s a great idea to check your tyres once per fortnight to make sure that there isn’t a loss in pressure. It’s tempting to eyeball the tyre and assume that it’s good enough, but this isn’t advised. The tyre may look inflated to the correct pressure, but it could be lower than you might realise. Always use a tyre pressure gauge to check your tyres to make sure that they are at the correct pressure. The tyre pressures are listed in your owner’s manual and on the tyre pressure placard in ...

Take Some Time to Visually Inspect Your Tyres

Checking your tyre pressures should be accompanied by a physical inspection of the tyres. A visual inspection can be carried out by anyone, look out for any gouges or cracks in the surface of the rubber. If you notice that you have a persistent slow leak in one of your tyres, there could be something sharp wedged in the tyre. The tyre depth should be checked; if you notice that the tyre tread is reaching the depth bar, it’s time to start thinking about a tyre replacement.

How Do You Check Your Tyre Pressures?

If you’ve never attempted to check your tyre pressures before it may seem difficult, but it’s really simple, and you will soon get used to it. Drive your car up to the tyre pressure gauge and remove every valve cap from your tyres. Set the tyre pressure gauge to the required pressure level and place in turn on each tyre valve. Then press the trigger to deliver the air to the set pressure in psi, and it will stop automatically. Check every tyre including the spare and your tyres will be ready for use. Don’t worry about the tyre pressure being too high, if the pressure is above the set amount the gauge will release the air to meet that set on the gauge.

Why is the Tyre Pressure Important?

The tyres on your car are the only point of contact with the road, and if they are not correctly inflated, they can affect the driving dynamics and grip. If the tyres are inflated to an incorrect pressure, they will make your car less fuel efficient, and your steering may feel heavy.
