Malaysia is surely an amazing and stunning travel destination from Southeast Asia. This country is truly mesmerizing and that’s the reason Malaysia tourism has earned its fame throughout the globe. If you are heading for this exotic travel destination soon, then here is the list of things that you shouldn’t do in Malaysia.

1. Showing too much affection in public
Malaysia features a large Muslim population and this country follows a conservative Muslim way of living. Local people of the country come with a conservative mind-set and they are not at all comfortable with the idea of showing too much affection in public. PDA is frowned upon here and it may cause many to raise their eyebrows. During your Malaysia tour package, restrain yourself from showing too much affection/love in crowded places. You can even spot several sign-boards pasted on public transportation systems not to get involved in any intimate act.

2. Not exploring local eateries
Malaysia tourism gives you that rare opportunity to explore an unbelievably exotic and fascinating culinary vista. Local cuisines of Malaysia are seriously something that no one should miss. Being a first-timer in this wonderful country, many travellers avoid eating from local or road-side eateries due to hygienic reasons but this is a complete deception. Even these small and crowded road-side food stalls in Malaysia offers authentic Malaysian food after ensuring both quality and hygiene.

3. Wearing shoes to the sacred places
Malaysia is the home to a series of heavily decorated temples. Malaysia tourism has earned huge appreciation all over the world for these stunning temples. During your vacation, it is obvious that you are going to visit at least few of them. Remember to take off your shoes at entrance before entering any sacred or holy place in Malaysia. Even you are visiting someone’s home, ask the host where you should take off your shoes.

4. Don’t offer your hand first for hand-shake
Being an Islamic country, Malaysian people largely follows the rules and regulations described in Islam. As direct physical contact between opposite sex is prohibited in Islam, be careful with your physical gestures while enjoying a Malaysia tour package. Hugging and hand-shakes are pretty common practices in Western culture but you must not offer your hand first for hand-shake unless and until you are hinted to do so. The best effective way to greet someone is to smile broadly with a friendly nod.

5. Bringing up religion unnecessarily
In spite of being an Islamic country, Malaysia believes in peaceful co-existence of every religion and faith. This country is not known for any kind of religious intolerance and it is pretty safe for foreign travellers to visit. Chinese, Malays and Indian religions are very much in practice but still it is recommended not to bring religion unnecessarily while you are roaming in Malaysia.

6. Hiring unmetered taxi
One thing which is quite infamous in Malaysia is the rude behaviour of local cab drivers. They are known to quote twice or thrice the actual fare from tourists. You should always have a clear word with the taxi driver regarding the fare before boarding one.
