These particulates, can be either wet or dry, and fall into a hopper at the bottom of the unit. From here they are transported by a conveyor system for disposal or recycling.
In most industrial plants, particulate matter that is formed in the manufacturing process is released in the form of dust in the hot exhaust gases. If these are released into the atmosphere, particulates can cause severe damage like reduced visibility, and major climate change, leading to a number of health issues such as lung damage and bronchitis. Electrostatic precipitators remove 99.9% of dust particles from gases, making them highly effective air pollution control systems.
Electrostatic precipitators are useful for cleaning up flue gases. They can reduce particle pollution for particles whose size is up to 1 micron in diameter, and some even go up to particle size of 0.01 micron in diameter. In addition, they can handle large volumes of gas at various temperatures and flow rates, removing either solid particles or liquid droplets.
