There are a few car technologies that will strike the market anytime soon. And whatever may it be, each of them will transform the car industry forever. However many advanced technologies have already been unveiled. In recent years, we’ve seen some really exciting leaps in car advancements. We now have cars that can effectively park themselves, track their journey, and even automatically apply breaks whenever its need.
So continue reading and you’ll discover five of the most groundbreaking technologies in advanced cars today.
1. Park Assist
The Park Assist technology was first introduced by Japanese in the late ’90s. Since then this technology is increasingly used in advanced vehicles.
Park Assist is something that makes parallel parking pretty easy for anyone. A car that comes with Park Assist easily maneuvers itself into the parking space with a simple press of a button. The on the board computer system smartly uses the power steering to turn the vehicle and move it into the parking space. However, the driver still has to control the vehicle’s speed using the brake pedal as the computer system issues a signal to the driver to let them know when to stop indicating that parking is complete.
Park Assist technology use smart sensors placed around the vehicle to avoid a collision, while there are some that use cameras and radar systems to detect objects.
2. Automatic Braking System (ABS)
Safety has always been a concern for people traveling in cars. We’re thankful for technology that is now making it a lot safe to travel in our cars.
Automatic Emergency Braking system (ABS) is now becoming the leading safety technology for automobiles. ABS is an advanced system that uses sensors to possibly prevent forward collision with another vehicle, obstacle or a pedestrian. The sensors alert the system when the vehicle is very close to an object which then makes the system automatically apply brakes to reduce vehicles speed and avoid an accident.
These systems combine multiple sensors such as radar, infrared or ultrasound to operate effectively. The ABS is often integrated with other safety features such as adaptive cruise control.
3. Biometric Access
In recent years, technology has significantly improved our car security. We now have laser-cut keys that will obsolete soon, all thanks to the cars keyless entry system.
In the near future, biometric access is set to be the next big advancement in the automotive industry. It won’t be long when you will be able to unlock and start with just a single fingerprint scan. The technology is similar to what we use to unlock our smartphones and other mobile devices. We can expect 30% of our cars to feature integrated biometrics in the next five years which will definitely enhance the security of our vehicles.
4. Smartphone Integration
The smartphone integration system allows us to integrate our phones with our vehicles and control them using a voice command. This technology allows access to software that let us navigate, find traffic information and run media with a single command.
Automakers are increasingly embracing this technology in our vehicles since not only it offers ease but it also keeps the drive safe while on the move. Top car brands like Chevrolet, Cadillac, Hyundai, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz are already manufacturing vehicles that have smartphone integration feature. On the other hand, tech giant Google has introduced Android Auto that allows users to mirror features from their Android devices to their vehicles in-built information and entertainment system.
5. Heated, Ventilated, Massage Seats
Technology has not only improved our driving experience and vehicles security, it also played a key role in improving our vehicles comfort level. Luxury vehicles are now coming with heated, ventilated and messaging seats.
Driving for hours can make anyone familiar with the joys of uncomfortable seats and poor posture. That’s why auto manufacturers have realized that people just want to keep away from all such troubles. We increasing find more vehicles that come with factory fitted massage seats to keep drives comfortable. While others keep them warm in the cold weather through their in-built heating system, and cool in the summers through the ventilation system.
The technology is getting more advanced and cheaper with time. In the coming years, each of these technologies will be a common feature in our vehicles. So, don’t be surprised if you won’t need a key to open your vehicle and don’t have to do anything to park them.
