Visual designers are storytellers who use elements of design such as illustrations, typography, space, layouts, photography, and color to bring product ideas to life. They aim to create visually engaging and innovative products for businesses.

Visual design focuses on improving user experience by impacting the usability and aesthetic appeal of products. This is at the heart of every top bachelor of design course in India.

Such an approach not only brings products to life but also strengthens the bonds between a business and its consumers.
Some important duties and roles of a visual designer are as follows:


Visual designers are required to collaborate with a number of disciplines within the business to create transformative product visuals to make a brand top-tier.  They collaborate mainly with product development departments like the engineering department with whom the Visual Designer has to liaise to decide on designs for new products or design modifications for existent products.

The visual designer also collaborates with the Sales and Marketing departments in order to create engaging and compelling product visual stories.
2.Research and Education

The role of a visual designer involves a great deal of creating extraordinary product stories and appealing product designs for consumers. This means intensive research and gathering factual information which can be relayed to senior visual designers and other departments that work in collaboration with them. A visual designer also gathers consumer feedback about the product’s visual by conducting surveys on a variation of prototypes of the product.

The findings from such research are creatively relayed by the use and application of photographs, charts, graphs, animations, fonts, slide presentations, videos, among other visual elements.

Based on this, decisions about which visual approach resonates best with consumers is made.

In this capacity, the visual designer serves the essential responsibility of cultivating an understanding of the market and consumer trends as well as consumer preferences by regularly conveying and sharing insights with the team.

3. Strategy:

Being one who understands the product reception the most, the visual designer carries out the role of participating and contributing to strategy discussions with senior visual designers and senior managers from other product development departments.

A visual designer usually has an education of a Bachelor’s in Graphic design which primes them to carry out most of the functions and duties mentioned above. Analytical skills, communication skills, software proficiency, and time management are some additional skills that are valuable in this job role.
