They actually save you from neurodegeneration and heart ailments. You are at a lower risk of attaining a heart attack if you ingest enough omega 3 fatty acids. Fishes are an amazing source of these fatty acids and thus non vegetarians are in for a ride. There are actually 3 types of omega 3 fatty acids relevant in the everyday food that you eat. These types include – ALA, EPA and DHA. ALA can be obtained from green and leafy vegetables, flaxseeds and oils like walnut, canola and soybean. You get EPA from fish, fish oil and algae. DHA is probably the most common type and is available in most foods. You also get this from vegetarian sources. So all the vegetarian people out there, you are in luck.
