Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
Just like fresh plants, fresh and ripe fruits and vegetables tend to get rot over time. Though several books and people have claimed that fresh and cucumbers can be preserved in soap by adding vitamin E or benzoin, none of them works in reality. Therefore, it is essential to avoid fresh things while preparing or Buying Natural Soaps.
Using old lye is as hazardous than inviting trouble on your own. Old lye is hard to dissolve or may not dissolve at all that eventually effects the consistency of the soap. Make sure that you don't use old lye, always try to purchase fresh lye while making Handmade Soaps.
It is one of the most mistaken ingredients in soaps potassium hydroxide is used to make liquid soap and sodium hydroxide (lye) is the ingredient used to make soap bars. Do not mix potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide while making handmade bar soaps.
Drain cleaner is a content used in store-bought soaps in order to extend their life. A Handmade Soap must only contain 100% sodium hydroxide not drain cleaner. Some manufacturers use drain cleaner and aluminium to make the lye hotter than normal.
