Teachers have an effect on students whether good or bad thus it can be said that teachers have various duties and roles on the lives of their students. These roles are explained more fully below so as to look at all the different impacts teachers have.

Role of teachers

The role of a teacher is hugely a positive one. Teachers are regarded as one of the most influential people in a child’s life and they should be as well because the child is under their influence for more than 7 hours each day for 5 days a week. This is a huge amount of time that the child spends with the teacher and the way the teacher treats them will have a huge impact on them. Moreover, the teacher has to effectively teach all the students in the class and it is quite obvious that not all students will be at the same level so the teacher has to identify who is weaker than the rest or cannot keep up with the course and then help all the children out in the way they need. This will groom the child in such a way that they will feel there is someone present to listen to them and their problems and someone to genuinely help them out as well which will lead to the students confiding in the teacher about their personal problems as well and this is where the teacher can effectively mold them to be good as well as responsible citizens. Moreover, when the teacher is teaching, they figure out what the strength and weakness of each student are and so they can guide the students to choose a career path that is most beneficial for them as well. They can figure out if they want to pursue a degree in science or maths or even in the arts just by the advice of their teachers and so, this can lead to them having an extremely successful future as well. Another role of the teacher is to help children with learning disabilities like ADHD or dyslexia and instead of taunting them, they can look for ways to help the child learn at their own pace. Teachers can even help figure out problems like bullying or peer pressure and so can help the students with any kind of problems they face instead of leaving the child to isolate themselves or feel like they have no one to confide in or talk to.

The negative impact of teachers

Teachers can play a negative role in the life of students as well. If they resort to taunting a child in front of the entire class, this can have a detrimental effect on the growth of the child and just to avoid embarrassment they might avoid going to class altogether and this act is sure to land them in trouble with the school administration as well as with their parents. They will also miss out on important lectures and so will fall back in the course with the worst case scenario being that they might end up flunking the subject as a whole. This will obviously hinder them from graduating and will cause them a whole other multitude of problems. There is also the kind of teachers who assign loads of homework to lessen their own workload and this leads to a child spending more and more time doing work instead of relaxing or spending time with their family and friends. The amount of work might make them stress out and just to complete the work they will have to deprive themselves of sleep which can have harmful effects on their health. Furthermore, the teacher can also turn a blind eye to students facing problems as they might believe it is not their job to deal with such problems. This can cause the student to feel effectively isolated and so they will get further into their bad habits like smoking or drinking with their friends. If the child feels isolated, they will get depressed and view school as a place that does more harm than good. They can also turn to assignment writing service as well. What’s more harmful is the fact that students go to school to learn but instead they view it as a place where they will be mocked. If teachers adopt a really strict approach it can also be detrimental to the learning of the students and they might hate the subject as a whole and refuse to learn anything. An even bigger negative effect of teachers is that they might refuse to take constructive criticism as they might feel that they are perfect but the students might not be effectively understanding them.
