The wealthiest city of India, Mumbai is a lively city and capital of the Maharashtra state. It has been given several nicknames, such as the 'City of Dreams' and the 'Gateway to India'. Many people from different corners of India arrive in this city every year in the hope of finding employment and fulfilling their aspirations. You can find many colonial-era buildings, places of worship belonging to different religions, best restaurants of the country, unique marketplaces, and some happening nightlife spots. During your time spent in this part of the world, you can also explore several other popular attractions that are visited by plenty of tourists every year.

As you arrive at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in any of the Mumbai flights, you'll be able to get to your hotel or any of your desired place in the city with the help of its public or private transport system. From your hotel, you can embark on sightseeing tours to the leading attractions, including the three UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Gateway of India is one of the prominent structures of the city you must never miss. It was built in the early 20th century to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary. It has been built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture.

Some of the airlines provide direct flights to Mumbai that save tourists plenty of time. After their arrival in the city, they can have plenty of time to relax and go sightseeing on the very next day. Besides Gateway of India, the tourists also find the Elephanta Caves quite intriguing. They are a collection of several cave temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. While exploring this temple complex, they'll get the opportunity to witness temples dating back to the 2nd century BCE. There are five caves dedicated to Lord Shiva and a few Buddhist stupa mounds in this temple complex.

Many of the tourists like to go on a journey in any of the commuter trains or local trains of Mumbai after their journey by air in flights to Mumbai. These trains start from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, which is another colonial-era structure that has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The terminus was designed by Frederick William Stevens, who was a British architectural engineer. It serves as a terminal both for the commuter trains and long-distance trains. The station was built in the year 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

While getting around in the city, you can also visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, which is popular across Mumbai as Mount Mary Church. It is located in a place called Bandra and attracts plenty of devotees every year. The history of this church dates back to the 16th century when the Jesuit priests from Portugal had constructed a chapel and housed the statue of Virgin Mary they brought with them. Every year, the feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated at this church on the first Sunday after the 8th of September followed by a week-long Bandra Fair, which is visited by people of all faiths.
