Indian Weddings Can Be Astonishing Affairs
Total Articles: 16
It has to be said that, compared with many other ethnic weddings, Indian weddings are extraordinary affairs. There may be no nationality on earth that goes to such lengths as Indians do in order to celebrate the weddings of their family members. In fact, some people might describe them as extreme, but so what? It is a demonstration of the love and respect that Indian families have for their kith and kin and they will go to any lengths to show it.
This is not anything like the weddings of some people who put on their best dress or suit and pop down to the registry office for a half hour ceremony and then go to the pub where they have booked a room for the afternoon. Oh no! Those may be what suit the tastes of some folk, but an Indian wedding is something else again.
It is a major event in the lives of the bride and groom and of all their close family too. In fact, families come together for an Indian wedding when some of them may not have seen each other for years, but all recognise the importance of the occasion. It is not just the marriage of two people, it is the marriage of two families and changes all their lives forever, which is why it is so important to celebrate it in the most spectacular way. At least, it is in the Indian tradition.
As spectacular as you may wish it to be, one of the most important things to bear in mind – unless you are extremely wealthy – is to set a budget and then stick to it. Or at least make some sort of show of sticking to it. It is so very, very easy, when your daughter or son is getting married to get carried away because "nothing is to good for him/her". Yes, of course, you are right, but you need to keep it within bounds because otherwise you could be paying for it for years to come.
However, that doesn't mean that you have to cut corners. There are companies the length and breadth of Britain that specialise in Indian wedding decorations, covering everything from mendhi stages and wedding stages, to the mandap, and down to the last flower on the table.
Talking of flowers, of course, those are of prime importance in most Indian weddings, but one advantage of using a specialist wedding decoration supplier is that they will have contacts with florists that they use regularly and will have special deals with them which will save you money, rather than you going down to the local florists and ordering lots of flowers. Another big tip about flowers is to try to use flowers that are in season. If you want flowers that are not in season they are going to have to be shipped in from abroad and will correspondingly cost considerably more.
So if your family wedding is being held in March, April, or May, why not go for daffodils? They are absolutely stunning flowers and cost very little, so why buy orchids? Sure, they only last for a few days in a vase, but then the wedding ceremony is only for a few hours. If the wedding is in the autumn, you could use chrysanthemums or dahlias. If it is in the winter you can use roses, lisianthus, veronica, alstroemeria, and gypsophila, all of which look stunning. It is really just a question of thinking ahead.
However, if you are using an event decorating company for Indian wedding decorations for the various wedding ceremonies the company staff will be able to give you recommendations about flowers and the sort of things that their florists can provide.
A wedding event decoration company can produce decorations for the room or hall that you are hiring for the wedding ceremony itself and the room for the banquet afterwards that will astound and amaze the guests. What's more, it need not cost as much as you think it will because many of these companies have materials and furnishings, such as chairs and chaises longues, that they use often, so they already have them in stock and don't have to produce them from new. All you need to do is to select from the fittings that they already have.
Kenza Creations is a specialist in Indian wedding decorations and has produced hundreds of weddings in London and the Home Counties. The company has huge stocks of wedding furniture and accessories sourced from around the world.
