Now, Apple has released watchOS 5.1.2. and this new upgrades OS comes with an ECG feature. As of now, this application is available for use only in the USA. With this newly added functionality, Apple Watch owners can take an ECG to find if their heart rate displays symptoms of atrial fibrillation. The process takes only half a minute, and it is life-saving.

In order to use this app, you need an Apple Watch Series 4 device bought in the USA. Also, the connected phone must have iOS 12.1.1.
Watch owners can take an ECG as and when they please. If one is going through signs like a fast or fast-paced heartbeat, then they can check their heartbeat. When you launch the app, you will be shown the details of the different kind of readings. Some caution regarding the limits of the feature will also be displayed.

Just launch the ECG application on your Watch and check out the moving dots of the heart icon. Tap the Digital Crown, and the countdown will begin. The heart rate and graph of the heart rhythm will appear on the screen.

When you are feeling sick, just select the Add Symptoms option and check out the list of available signs. Choose the symptoms you feel and then hit the Done button.

How to set up the ECG App

1. Launch the Health application on your iOS device.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
3. Go to Health Data.
4. Tap on Heart.
5. Select Electrocardiogram.
6. When the set up is over, the app will show up on the Apple Watch.

How to use the ECG App on your Apple Watch

After updating the Apple Watch, ensure that it fits snugly on the chosen wrist. After that, follow these steps:

1. Launch the ECG application on the Watch.
2. Place your arm on a stationary object or your lap.
3. Long press the Digital Crown.
4. Wait for thirty seconds.
5. Now, you can add the symptoms.
6. Hit the Save button.
7. After that, press Done.
