Rajasthan is the land of Rajas and Maharajas. There is no other Indian state that can offer so much grandeur and royalty from past like Rajasthan can do. But hold a second. Do you know what you should/shouldn’t do while you are on a Rajasthan trip? Here is a list of many such Dos and Donts.

1. Accommodation
Rajasthan allows with a hoard of accommodation options. It includes budget hotels and luxury palaces too. Whichever is your pick always book approved or classified hotel. You can check about the authentication of the hotel from the Department of Tourism. Never leave your hotel room unlocked whether you are inside the room or going out of it.

2. Transportation
Autorikshaws are the best way to cover any short distance in Rajasthan. You will see a hoard of autorikshaws making round of you particularly if you are a foreign traveller. Try to take autorikshaws from pre-paid kiosk wherever available. If you can’t find a pre-paid rikshaw kiosk near you then settle with the fare before getting into the vehicle. You can also book taxis via travel agencies approved by RTDC or through Rajasthan Tourism Tourist Reception Centres for right price/fare.

3. Shopping
Rajasthan is full of busy market places. Each and every market in Rajasthan showcases a range of products including clothes, handcrafted items, showpieces for your home and many more. Your Rajasthan tour is incomplete until you stack your luggage with some of the local items. You can buy from reputed or approved shops for a fair price. In case you are shopping from any local outlet, then bargain rigorously to get the best deal. Check the amount of your bill on swiping machine if you are paying via credit or debit card.

4. Dress like a local
Whichever place you are travelling to, our advice is to try to dress like local people as much as possible. This will help to grow a sense of closeness with the locals and vice versa. In Rajasthan, you can flaunt simple cotton clothes that are comfortable and cheap too. Dressing like a local also saves you from being the easy target to fraudsters. Don’t get manipulated with any person who is trying to help you by going beyond the limit.

5. Try local cuisines
Rajasthan tour are best known for its architectural heritage and culinary skills. Local cuisines in Rajasthan are delicious and surely some exotic treats to your tastebuds. It is really hard to resist the temptation of trying some of the popular Rajasthani cuisines or Thalis. Before you dig into those local delicacies, you should know that they are really spicy and you may suffer from some indigestion problems after a sumptuous meal. Carry some medicines to boost your digestive system and immunity during the trip.

6. Exchanging the money
When you are travelling from a foreign land to Rajasthan, you have to exchange the money in Indian Rupees. Always exchange your money through authorized money exchangers and don’t forget to take a receipt from them. Also carry debit or credit card for effortless transactions on shops and hotels.
