Skills Employers Seek In Telecom Engineers
Good telecommunication engineers are highly sought-after professionals in today’s technology-driven world. You are the ones who actually create the stimulating and dynamic interconnected future we will soon find ourselves in.
As an aspiring telecom engineer who is probably part of one of the top engineering colleges in Pune, by now you would be aware of the employment prospects this field holds for you apart from the core sectors of operation, such as defense, software development and space technology.
Along with strengthening subject matter during your M tech, you should focus on building the skills that are fundamental to your success in any organization you join.
Skills naturally vary according to the nature of the job and industry, but a few of them are most valued and in demand.
Let us look at these:
1) Cloud Computing Skills
A lot of data that we use is automatically stored in the cloud. For this reason skilled engineers who know the workings of the cloud are in high demand now and in the foreseeable future.
Cloud computing skills are an amalgam of skills required to build and run software in the cloud. This includes understanding cloud architecture that builds on the basics of traditional Web Services and APIs; and a good grasp of networking and virtualisation.
All telecom engineers don’t have to learn hard-core programming, but it proves rather helpful in areas such as networking and data centers as they are becoming increasingly reliant on specialised software
3) Network Engineering
While the term can mean more than one thing in the industry, we are using it to describe various processes required to implement, support, maintain and troubleshoot communication networks within an organization or between two or more organizations.
Network (support) engineers are expected to make a foolproof network infrastructure available to a wide range of stakeholders including employees, customers, clients and supply-side staff.
A thorough knowledge of different networks such as LAN, WAN, WLAN and MAN is a key to growth in this field. Your ability to skillfully handle a network crisis or malware attack, that could severely affect a company’s business, will be considered highly valuable.
These chief skills of telecommunication engineers aren’t solely developed through traditional learning; they require supplemented learning that only a few M tech colleges in Pune are equipped for. If you are yet to make your choice, choose your college while remaining mindful of this aspect.
