Nepal, home to 8 out of 14 highest peaks and birth place of Lord Buddha, offers many exotic locations for any kind of travel seekers. Be it climbing high to the summit of mountain or trekking its base camp or an easy hike near to the city or adventurous sports or religious and cultural tour, Nepal has an array of travel options.
If are heading for peak climbing trips – Everest expedition, Dhaulagiri expedition, Annapurna expedition, Kanchenjunga expedition or other mountain expedition or simply willing to under-take long and wilderness trekking – Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek, Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Everest Three Pass Trek etc. the trip comes with large budget and you will see drastic reduction on your bank account.
Here are the 5 simple and easy ways to travel in such locations in budget:
Learn to Bargain
Bargaining works in Nepal. It a skill only a few excel at but it is sure to come handy on your travels. Bargain your travel agency, travel guide, porters or shopping centers and accommodation centers to get the best deals. The first rules of bargain is to never settle for the initial rate mentioned. But don’t bargain too much; it will give bad impression to your home country and people.
Don’t eat or Shop at Popular Tourist Spots
We suggest you not to spend on popular tourist spots. Most touristic places will charge you more for the same things that you can get cheaper in place near to city, market or town. Find out the budgeted accommodation and eating spot rather than paying extra on main market.
DIY if possible
Besides restricted areas, all the trekking regions in Nepal are possible to visit independently. Though it is far hassle free to travel with agencies, they will charge you bulk amount which takes you out of estimated budget. So travel and plan on your own to stick on your budget. But we extremely you to book with local travel agency or at least hire a guide, if you are unseasoned trekkers.
Rent gear instead of buying
We suggest you to rent gear instead of buying it. Trekking and climbing gear are expensive which does not comes to use once you completed your trip. There are many rental shops in Kathmandu and Pokhara which will charge only a certain amounts; in promise of returning it back safely.
Stay away from the main market
The main market area of any place is always expensive and crowded than a street that isn’t as lively as this one. You can save a few money if you stay at less popular area.
