Importance Of Rewards In Reinforcing Good Behaviours

By the time your child enters into a kids play school in Rohini, behaviours become the central focus of your attention. It is ultimately important because your response to your child’s behaviour will determine whether a particular behaviour will continue in the future or not. Behaviours in young children are likely to return if these behaviours are positively reinforced and rewarded. This helps the child and the parent understand each other, what is expected, and help achieve satisfaction and celebrate an achievement. Rewards also help the child understand that s/he is capable of making decisions, choosing the right behaviour, and therefore is powerful. Rewards, in this case, specifically helps children retain their independence and receiving respect from their parents. In order to attach the right rewards, as a parent, you should be able to decipher the cause of your child’s behaviour. If you treat the behaviour as a result of a problem that the child is facing, you are more likely to come to deciding a reward. More often, it is advisable to involve your child in the problem solving, finding solutions that are agreeable to both.
Rewards can be of different types depending on your style or preference of parenting. They could be material rewards such as toys, candies or other such things or the rewards could be social rewards. Social rewards are more commonly used in the top schools in Rohini working with young children. Social rewards can include affection, attention, and praise, which are much more powerful and long-lasting than the material rewards. If your child’s school practises social rewards, it is best to use them at home as well as this will help reinforce your child’s better behaviours. Affection, for instance, can include hugs, kisses, a smile, a high five whereas praise can include appreciating a child’s performance, decision, or achievement with encouraging words. This is effectual when done in front of an audience.
The right combination of the social and material rewards can help change and reinforce your child’s behaviours. Keep in mind that the rewards need to inspire the child and should help them feel good when receiving them. Rewards should be given to children as soon as possible in order to help children connect the reward with the intended behaviour. As the child gets older, the rewards will have to change and also take considerable significance. Rewards can help build a nurturing and strong parent-child relationship. And, if done consistently, your child can learn the right behaviours and develop a good moral and value judgment.
