Why Learning By Playing Is Important Among Young Children
There was a time, not very long ago, when top schools in Rohini encouraged children to spend their time in play. Children would build with blocks, draw from their imaginary worlds, and use their bodies to learn interaction with their classmates and with the world.

India, being a labour-intensive economy needs a change in the skills-set wherein there is celebration of innovation and design. We need a workforce in the future that can adeptly rise to the challenges. With increasing importance given to testing, standardization of education, and didactic teaching methodologies, problems have come up. India lags behind many nations in educational achievement. Millions of children in India come from poor economic backgrounds and in this scenario experts claim that beginning their formal education early could bridge this gap. Although Finland is a small country and has less diversity than India, the question remains whether the same system can work in India. This prevents children from spending their time in front of TV and rather be in a company of their peers and learn.
Research often indicates that the time spent in learning through play proves more beneficial as a child grows up. In fact, one research says that didactic education in the early years of a child can result in poor academic performance later. In addition, children develop perseverance, to express their emotions, and controlling their attention by playing just as well. Reading among young children cannot be rushed. Reading is a complex skill and cannot be developed naturally such as walking. However, it can be encouraged and fostered. It is only when we allow children to be their whole selves that they can learn their best. As parents, educators, and policy makers, we must focus on developing an education policy that encourages play as a form of learning, especially among young children.
