Ooty is the district capital of the Nilgiri District, which is located in Tamil Nadu, a southern state in India. One of the popular hill stations in India Ooty has an economy mainly dependent on the agriculture, medical production and tourism. Some of the airports close to Ooty are Peelamedu Airport, Coimbatore (CJB, Domestic) 57 km, Kozhikode Airport (CCJ, Domestic) 88 km, Chennai International Airport (MAA, International) 426 km. Mettupalayam is the closest railway station and from there one can get a taxi to Ooty charging around INR 1,000. Ooty is well connected with Bangalore through roadways and there are regular bus services from Bangalore. Travelers can choose among non-A/C to A/C Volvo which charges anywhere between Rs 300 to Rs 750. In most cases, online booking is available. Instant confirmation is facilitated in such cases. Travelling by bus is recommended to youngsters and backpackers. There are also taxis available for hire and the fare costs around INR 7,200 for a round trip. This type of travel is recommended while travelling with senior citizens or with small kids. Ooty has a subtropical climate with a temperature ranges from 23 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius. Different seasons offer different climatic experiences to the tourists here. It is a 6 hours journey from Bangalore to Ooty and is at a distance of 230 Km from Bangalore. Kodai offers a lot of beautiful flowers and trees and the Bryant Park is a botanical garden that comprises of many flowering trees like Rhododendron, dahlia and magnolia which are delight to the tourists especially for the students. Annual exhibitions of flowers are conducted here to promote tourism in Kodaikanal. The city of Kodaikanal is known specially for a flower named Kurinji which blooms once in twelve years. Trekking, fishing, cycling, boating and horse riding are some of the entertainments in and around the city of Kodaikanal. Kodaikanal is famous for home made chocolates and eucalyptus oil. Kodai cheese is very famous in the markets. Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city situated in the state of Karnataka. This city showcases diverse culture and tradition and the people of this city are very warm in nature. Bangalore is fondly called the 'Garden City' as the city contains a lot of gardens and parks. The climate of the city is very moderate in all seasons. This attracts a lot of multinational and other investors to start their new ventures in this metropolitan city. Bangalore, officially called Bengaluru, is a fast growing industrial city in Asia. Frequent trains connect Bangalore to Kodaikanal Railway Station. Nagarcoil Express and Tuticorin Express connect Kodaikanal Railway Station and take 9-10 hours to reach Bangalore to Kodaikanal. Another best option to travel to Kodaikanal from Bangalore is by bus. There are frequent air conditioned sleeper buses are available which take around Rs. 350/- to Rs. 500/- for a trip. It varies depending on the facilities. The distance from Bangalore to Kodaikanal is 463 km. Flights are available from Bangalore to Coimbatore and from Coimbatore one can take cabs to reach Kodaikanal. Taxis charge Rs. 4000/- to reach Kodaikanal from Coimbatore. If you have your own vehicle it takes approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes for the journey depending on the vehicle. The shortest route is by NH-7 from Bangalore through Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Dindigul to reach Kodaikanal. The road is also very good. Cabs can also be hired to cover this distance and they charge depending on the vehicle hired and the facilities. There are a lot of accommodation facilities available for the guests.
