Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, commonly referred to as ADHD, is a behavioral disorder that affects approximately 3-5 percent of the world's population. The symptoms of ADHD include a consistent pattern of impulsiveness, hyperactivity and inattention. It affects twice as many boys as girls, and usually begins during childhood. Genetic factors are thought to be the primary cause of ADHD. There are several environmental factors also thought to cause ADHD, such as the mother smoking or drinking alcohol during pregnancy. There are numerous adhd medications available on the market for adhd symptons and treatment. However, prescription medications for ADHD are controversial. Increasingly, people are becoming interested in alternative adhd therapy. There are numerous ADHD medications available on today's market. Prescription ADHD drugs are controversial.
