Dust Collectors Fans   By: oleg tchetchel
Fans are an essential part of every dust collection system and are used to assist in controlling and conveying dust for numerous applications. Whether you are capturing welding smoke or sawdust - Industrial Pressure Blower Co. manufactures a variety of fan types for dust collectors. Industrial Pressure Blower Co. offer backward inclined fans for use on the clean side of a filter, radial bladed fans for cyclone applications, and an extensive line of top mounted and side mounted units. A HEPA filter is a specific filter defined by the United States Department of Energy. Commonly used in clean rooms for the biomedical, pharmaceutical, and electronic microcircuitry industries, these filters are designed to ensure very high standards of air quality and prevent contamination.(read entire article)

Energy Recovery Fan   By: oleg tchetchel
Combining outdoor air and exhaust air ventilation functions into a single unit help drive an important practice in good HVAC design-building ventilation balance. In layman's terms: What goes in must come out. Traditionally, the outdoor air needs and the exhaust air needs were calculated in separate thought processes. The designer would specify the minimum outdoor air and exhaust air volumes required by code, but would stop short of comparing the totals to check the ventilation balance. Frequently, this led to over pressurized buildings where doorways were transformed into wind tunnels. In some cases, buildings became negatively pressurized and infiltration made indoor climate control difficult.(read entire article)

How To Increase Blower Performance   By: oleg tchetchel
A fan cannot perform as designed if the air flow surfaces are distorted by contaminants. Even in large fans, a sixteenth of an inch of build up can reduce performance. Centrifugal fans will move some air even when running backwards. While some types would use so much horsepower they would trip circuit breakers, other design s could run for years without being detected. Fan components may be out of position due to routine cleaning or painting or the wheel could have shifted during shipment.(read entire article)

Fan Performance Curves   By: oleg tchetchel
Fan curves are based on laboratory test data and are sometimes referred to as "test curves". A typical test curve will often define the performance parameters for a specific design and size of fan, operating at a given speed, moving a gas of a given density.(read entire article)

Blower Vibration   By: oleg tchetchel
Forces that are not constant in amplitude or direction over time can cause solids to move repetitiously. We call this vibration. The similar motion imparted to the air is called sound. These phenomena are somewhat interchangeable since sound can cause vibration and vibration can cause sound. One difference is that sound is only dealt with when it is audible while vibration must be addressed even when it is outside the range of human perception. All fans must generate some vibration. They continuously rotate and, since nothing is perfect, cyclic forces must be generated. It's only when vibration reaches a certain amplitude that we call it “bad.” Vibration may just be an indicator of some problem with a mechanism, or it may be a cause of other problems. High vibration can break down lubricants in the bearings and, in addition, may cause metal fatigue in the bearings. Excessive vibration can cause fasteners to loosen or can cause fatigue failure of structurally loaded components. Finally, vibration can transmit into adjacent areas and interfere with precision processes, or create an annoyance for people.(read entire article)

Fiberglass Blower Fan   By: oleg tchetchel
Potential applications for FRP fans include any process in which corrosive fumes must be captured, moved, cleaned, or vented. FRP fans are most often used in fume-scrubber systems where the scrubber itself may be constructed of FRP or an exotic alloy, but where FRP is the preferred fan material. Galvanizing and etching processes often have FRP exhaust hoods and ducts, and many of the fans used to convey fumes in such systems are also built of FRP. Waste water treatment plants and laboratory exhaust systems are other applications for which FRP fans are being used with increasing frequency.(read entire article)

High Temperature Fan Blowers   By: oleg tchetchel
The fan engineer must understand the limitations of materials and various failure mechanisms, such as high stress, stress to rupture, and creep. Sometimes, it is necessary to consider high cycle fatigue, low cycle fatigue in cyclical operation with speed changes, and numerous start-stop cycles. If rapid temperature changes are encountered, transient analysis may be required due to thermal stresses.(read entire article)
