Ouarzazate is a Moroccan city located in the South Eastern region of the kingdom. Nicknamed as the capital of cinema, the city is located around 200 kilometers to the South East of Marrakesh. Established in the beginning of the 20th century, Ouarzazate is famous for hosting the shooting of many famous international movies. The Taourirt Kasbah is one of the most important historical sites of Ouarzazate. Constructed in 1745, the Kasbah was established by Amghar Hamad, who was one of the wealthy businessmen who lived in the area. He founded this large complex and palace to be his residence with his wife. Today, it became one of the most important touristic sports commonly visited by many tourists who spend their holidays in Morocco.

There are two main sections in the complex, one is called the king’s arena; which was specified for the celebrations and for welcoming visitors and the other one was where women and the other members of the family used to live. Although, the complex has gone through several restoration phases, many of its original elements and features are still intact. Nobody visits the city of Ouarzazate without exploring the Cinema Museum. Established in 1981, the museum was in fact constructed as the setting of a historical movie. Afterwards, the governor of the city was impressed with it and asked the workers to leave it as it is.
