With the turn of the 21st century, lots of attention has been given worldwide towards the conservation of environment. Different ways in which the climatic conditions and the living environment can be improved are being thought of, thereby focusing attention on the concept of wastewater treatment. There are many advantages generated through this kind of attention. Water conservation is important consequence to such actions, where the advantage is also seen in the field of protecting the soil from different types of waste products. By setting up of sewage treatment plant, such issues can be easily addressed. There are some important considerations which can be added to the sewage treatment, allowing this particular process to be quite popular in the modern day scenario.

• Tanks and storage units are being redesigned with better filtration and waste treatment

Going away from the traditional large sized sewage treatment system of the previous decades, the modern day plants have smaller tanks and feeding units. The idea has been possible to be implemented because of the reduction in the sludge amount. Although activated sludge process is a well known process utilising microorganisms to reduce the carbon components, there are newer methods of moving bed biomedia reactor, which can be quite advantageous. By this process, the mass of sludge being produced is greatly reduced. Therefore, the mass to be kept in containers is reduced and the process of filtration is smoother than other traditional processes. In this kind of sewage treatment, less amount of waste is produced which need not be removed at regular intervals. Hence, this becomes an important advantage for plenty of small units of sewage treatment system.

• Methods to increase the surface area of organic waste treatment works productively

Working with more efficient microorganisms floating within certain biofilms and in floccules can be a better way in sewage treatment plant for handling the waste. By the means of increasing the surface area of the treatment surface, it is possible to reduce the organic components. Thereby, there is also reduction in the sludge materials, which will not block the outlets or get deposited at the lower levels. In such situation, it would be best to utilise larger surface areas and expose the organic waste across bigger areas so that the final reduction of the waste is easily removed from the sewage treatment system. Such a concept actually works better in the sewage treatment plant and decreases the overall size of the tanks and plant units.

• Attracting attention of people in large numbers due to convenience provided by smaller units

Smaller sewage treatment units are supposed to be attracting more number of patrons. This is very much evident from the larger demands across in industrial units as well as in domestic set ups. The use of organic bio films has helped reduce the overall size of these units, so that people are ready to get these installed in their locations. By doing so, they get plenty of advantages, primarily because of the changes in the unit’s installation. Many components have been altered through precise research and extensive study of the requirements of sewage treatment, thereby making this kind of sewage treatment system quite well known in the modern day setting.

Author info: Steve Cherng works on installations of sewage treatment plant with compact sizes where the sewage treatment is done with bio films with high output of water in sewage treatment system in these units.
