Thing To Do in Barbados
By Expert Author: Andy FreemanBefore you go to Barbados, get on that diet for a couple of weeks because you wont be on a diet here, too much to do eat and drink.
Then please check out the other button on BARBADOS EVENTS.....lots of National events that may help you choose your vacation dates.Well Barbados has all the hot weather tropical activities you would normally expect, except better and with service levels that are the highest in the Carib and a wonderful cultured people that are extremely friendly to tourists.
Swimming and the beach of course is everywhere, snorkel trips, diving, sailboat hire, party cruises on boats and catamarans, speed boat trips, waverunners hire, Barbados has it all for the sunny part of the day. Then there are tree top line wire trips, cycle tours and mountain hikes, all organised and great to burn off the four course meal of the night before. There is surfing on the South and East coast, 20 minutes from Crossbow Villa. Do hire a car and avoid the buses, they frighten us to death. Dont try to walk along the main roads, paths are non existent, use your very reasonable priced hire car and get that from Stoutes, we have a discount deal with them and you get ALL that discount, we dont "Skim" our Villa customers.
Talking about sun, its hard to ever find a week in Barbados when you dont get more than enough sun, rain does happen, ranging from a quick shower for a few short minutes to a good drenching for a couple of hours in rainy season but seldom will you have a week in Barbados without coming home with a tan and that world record 8 hours average sun per day all year and a constant 32 degrees makes Barbados the BEST Island in the Caribbean. When the sun goes down, thats when it all starts. Sunset cocktail bars all over the place, particularly near Crossbow Villa in Holetown and Mullins area, 10 or more bars to see fantastic sunsets and sip a rum punch or whatever, then back to the Villa to put on the gladrags for a night out and EVERY night is a night out in Barbados.
In the area close to Crossbow Villa the week starts with a fantastically funny cross dressing manikin show in Ragamuffins bar, street Karaoke where the locals really let rip, all good fun and restaurants all round. Caribbean's bands Wednesdays on the beach but every night great restaurants, cocktail bars and the famous Holetown piano bar, a must to see where all the West Coasters hang out.A 30 minute taxi ride to Oistins on Friday is a must, the whole street in closed off and up pop all these street vendors with some really fun trinkets to buy and portable restaurants as far as the eye can see leading up to the stage where massive boom boxes blast out dance music and literally everyone joins in. Friday night is the locals have fun night, you wont feel intimidated, never any violence, these are wonderful people and LOVE to see the tourists. Beers a lot cheaper at Oistins too.
Dont forget a night at Groots Fish and Chip bar and pub in Holetown, a good starter watering hole for any evening to get the right arm going or a nice chilled out place for a lighter meal if the high calorie diet gets you mid week.We have listed all our favourite restaurants on the website, go back to the Home page and pick up the Restaurant button. For the odd night you get caught child minding or want to give it a break (hangover ????) our Villa is fun, DVD giant screen with all the popular classics and some funny stuff (I am a Naked Gun fan myself, the whole volume is there at the Villa) .....Pool table, Bose sound system or even a library of books to read or just have a swim and relax.
Enjoy Barbados folks :)
