Total Articles: 1
Social etiquettes are an important set of rules by which a person deals in the society. These rule varies according to the location however the basics remain the same--one has to be polite irrespective of the place. While this blog tells only one rule of the social conduct, a good social etiquette training can teach you all aspects of social behavior.
Politeness is the practical use of social etiquette. When you apply the basic rules of conduct, express yourself, display good manners, and consider the feelings of others, you are being gentle and polite.
How To Be Polite?
Connie Stevens once quoted, “Nothing you wear is more important than your smile”, and it's extremely true. When you smile, you are polite, and that allows people to be less submissive and more responsive. By smiling, not only it let people loosen up a bit and get comfortable but smile in return too. So, the best way to be polite—smile.
Another way to be polite is by using right body postures. Our body language speaks in volume. One aggressive posture can make others around you uncomfortable like the one when you fold your arms and cover your arms. This arm folding gesture shows that either you are not open to the conversation or you don't feel like listening. Whatever the case is, it makes other feel unwanted. In a social etiquette training class, professional certified coach can make you aware of the different open-palm and moving-arm gestures that are well perceived by the listeners. However, at times, it is good to display an aggressive stance when people are trying to run over you. You can start by looking at the person right between the triangle made between forehead and both the eyes.
One more way to be polite is by being not too forceful, argumentative or insistent. There is a very slight difference between cocky and confident. Cocky people have confidence too, however, it is not a part of true self-assurance. If you don't like a particular thing, you should deny without defying. Argument about it, but with open-arm gestures. It tells the other person that you just don't like a specific thing instead of showing you as a total prick. So, the take is: be polite but don't be too polite.
