Coonoor is a Municipality in the Nilgiris District in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is Known for its production of Nilgiri tea. It is a beautiful Hill Station and also one of the popular places to visit in Tamilnadu. It is an ideal base for a number of trekking expeditions leading into the Nilgiris. The nearest airport is Coimbatore International Airport about 79 km from Coonoor town. Coonoor provides the travellers with the panoramic view of the lush green Nilgiri hills, with its ravines, valleys and waterfalls. The major attraction of Coonoor is Sim's Park, a well-maintained Botanical Garden that houses several varieties of plants found missing in the other Hill Stations. It is spread over 12 hectares. Viewpoints and picnic spots around Coonoor include Lambs Rock, Dolphins Nose, St. Catherine Falls, Law's fall, etc.

The botanical garden is partly developed in the Japanese style and derived its name from J. D. Sim, the secretary of the Madras Club in 1874. ... is a wonderful viewpoint with picturesque views of the Hills of Nilgirs. It is one of the most visited Coonoor tourist places. Tourists can trek from Lady Canning's Seat to Dolphin's Nose. Lamb's Rock is situated in Burliar village and it is one of the favorite picnic spots from Coonoor and also one of the best places to visit in Coonoor. Droog Fort is located a distance of 13 km from Coonoor and was once used by Tipu Sultan in the 18th century. Law's Falls is a waterfalls located 5 km from Coonoor, on the way to Mettupalayam. Katary Falls has a power station. Coonoor is also one of the best Hill Stations near Bangalore.

The best time to visit Coonoor is March to June & September to October while the peak sason is April to June. Usually it takes one full day to visit Coonoor.
