7 benefits of Ph.D. for an Employee:

Ph.D. is a significant advantage for an employee. Some unemployed Ph.D. holders confuse you by their failure, but don’t let them do this. Because successful Ph.D. holders are busy in their productive life. Here we discuss some benefits for an employee who is a Ph.D. holder over Non-Ph.D employees:

1. Ph.D. holders know how to find answers: There are three desired skills required in all industries i.e. critical thinking, complex problem solving, and decision making during a critical situation which occurs in Industry. So in other words, PhDs able to identify the right problem, identify the right answer for that problem and take right decision to resolve the problem.

Never forget that you are a PhDs and your work is doing research on a situation/topic. You are highly trained for finding a problem and resolve it asap.

2. PhDs never afraid of failure, they learn from it: You failed, again failed, again and again failed but you collect all results and measure it, study it, and collect all the possible mistakes you did in past and learn from these. So ...
... you will never repeat these mistakes in future. You never feel afraid of failure, because you know failure means “ One more chance to do it successfully with more knowledge”.

3. PhDs knows how to deal with Bosses: As we know different people having a different mentality. So all Bosses are not same by their thoughts. You have to deal with some negative Bosses during your professional career and you know how to deal with them because you know how to deal with critical situations.

4. PhDs knows how to deal with uncertainty: You are a Ph.D. or doing Ph.D., you don’t know what will happen in future. You are not just comfortable in your life with uncertainty, you have to grow with it. So you have to willing to take risks which other people don’t willing to take.

5. PhDs create information: It’s very hard to add something in an existing information. PhDs are the creator of information. Don’t think that everyone can create information. It’s very hard to create an information. On another side, you have spent years to create an information and months to gather it as a meaningful way that’s called thesis so that just 5-6 people can read it. This type of innovation and creativity is not so common.

6. They grow up with the competition and collaboration: As we know, nowadays competition is everywhere. We have to face it in any industry also. There are some limited resources in industry and we have to use them in an accurate manner and collaborate with other colleagues to get a better result for industry. So there will be competition and we have to be on top but also, collaborate with the others. This is what PhDs can easily handle.

7. PhDs are qualified for every position in industry: If someone says “You are overqualified for this job”. That means they trying to breaking you politely and sparing your feelings. The main reason behind this is your lack of social and interpersonal skills and your inability to present yourself for that position at hand. They want to show you that Overqualified means wrongly qualified for that position. If you heard somewhere this line “ You are overqualified for this job” means it’s time to change your approach instead of blaming the system of an industry. You are a Ph.D. holder, you are perfectly qualified for any position in an industry. After all, you are a Doctor of Philosophy. So don’t be panic at this situation, just take advantage of your Ph.D. and show your experience towards employer’s interests, not your own interest. It’s time to rewrite your curriculum vitae, change your approach to interview and position yourself correctly this time.
