How To Build Your Own Paintball Gun
By Expert Author: Dan S.The process of creating your very own paintball gun is not very hard but can be quite time consuming if you do not study about this in advance. With the help of this article you will be able to make your personal paintball gun instead of spending a lot of money in a specialized shop.
First we will start with a list of items that you will need for constructing the paintball gun:
1. Standard Co2-powered paintball gun;
2. 14”-22” barrel;
3. Screwdriver;
4. Side-mounting hopper;
5. Tripod (optional);
6. Very good paintballs.
The first you need to accomplish is to remove any hoppers and barrels attached to the gun because most of the standard barrels are rather short and inaccurate. After this, using item no. 3, screw in the extended barrel (some of them have corkscrew groves in order to help place a spin on it thus increasing the accuracy).
Next, screw in the Co2 container into your gun and add the side-mounted hopper onto the gun. The side-mounted hopper will either have an attachment to move the standard hopper out of the barrel line of sight or just be one piece. After doing so you will need to adjust the velocity to the course required amount. Now you will begin the testing of the gun by moving a distance of about 200 feet between the gun and the target. Next step is to fire at the target and after that check to see if the sight is accurate as you have hoped. If it isn’t, loosen the screw, adjust it with great care, tighten it and give it another try. Repeat the process if necessary until you get it right.
Another testing situation is imperative – try to find a location in which you can crouch or prone. Using a tripod will make the gun to be more stable and as a consequence, more accurate. Choosing the paintballs is just as important as the gun itself; the high quality models are less likely to break in the barrel. Good examples would be Spyder and Tippmann paintballs as they have proven their efficiency over the years.
The latter manufacturer also offers good products for reducing the friction within the marker. If you have the time to polish the contact points between the front bolt, rear bolt, and the receivers, you will notice a significant decrease in terms of friction within the marker. A valuable piece of advice is not to overdo with the barrel length, something between 16”-18” will do just about fine.
You can have a lot of fun tinkering the marker with A5’s, M4’s, AK47’s or even MP5’s. If you have the time, the possibilities are endless. The value of the paintball gun is futile if you make a lot of noise when walking on branches or leaves as it will give your position away. Try stepping on rocks as they do not make much sound. Also take camouflage into consideration; it can give you a solid advantage.
As you can observe, the process of building your very own paintball gun is not rocket science but the downside is that it can be time consuming but this is the perfect solution if you are on a strict budget.
